Japan’s finance minister, Taro Aso, has courted fresh controversy after expressing admiration for the Nazis, describing Adolf Hitler as “having the right motives”.

“Hitler, who killed millions of people, was no good even if his motive was right,” Aso told a meeting of his faction of the governing Liberal Democratic party, according to Jiji Press.

Calling someone “no good” is praising them?

“Hitler, who killed millions of people, was no good even if his motive was right..."

And here I was thinking that Hitler's motive *was* to kill millions...as was Tojo's...Stalin's...

Fake news.

There’s a world of difference between “even if” and “even though.”

Oh, who cares?

Probably a mistranslation, anyway.

I assume the motives this guy is referring to was Hitlers intention to rid the undesirables from the gene pool “improve” the human race in general.

On some level it might seem “good”, but it was also monstrous.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read that.

Words have meaning. He made the same mistake the lead character in Idiocracy made in court. Trying to use precise words in front of a less than intelligent audience.

His motive was reprehensible. There was no good in it at all.

Isn’t Iceland being praised for something like that right now?

“was no good even if his motive was right”

Well with the entire quote...can this guy explain what were the “right” motives for invading Poland, having the Austrian leader (Engelbert Dollfuss) assassinated, forcing Czechoslovakia to sign over parts of their nation, invading neutral nations like Denmark, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Norway.

Not to mention the death camps.

There is only one industrialized nation in recent world history that has succeeded in throwing out a Muslim Invasion, that is Japan who expelled almost all Iranians in around 1995 or so.

Tokyo and other major cities had huge problems with muzzies hanging out all day at train stations selling drugs and counterfeit phone cards.

they would stare and stare and stare and cause trouble and start fights and now there are none of them.

that’s because they tricked them a long time with a bunch of exotic lies about a huge “Persian New Year celebration” in Tokyo and captured and expelled them almost all at the same time - thousands.

Denmark is failed at that, the UK failed at that, Austria, Germany, Holland and Belgium and all the others, but not Japan.

Japan succeeded, succeeded completely.

I think if the type of xenophobia envinced by this contretemps also has the effect of preserving their culture..?

then I think it’s a good thing.

I think if the point at which everyone in the world loves you is the point where you lose your culture and you and your people are dead, then that’s bad.

Reporters can’t read when they are triggered when somebody else but them uses the word “Nazi”.

Japan, as your tag indicates, is a nation built on racial and cultural identity.

Its why Japan will be around long after the USA has gone the way of the Roman or Byzantine Empires.

I can find nothing about any alleged expulsion of Muslims from Japan in 1995 or at anytime. Source for this?

I don’t know about Iceland, but I do know the attempt to rid the world of undesirables continues to this day. It’s just being implemented in a slightly more humane/devious way and with greater patience.

Instead of killing the poor, stupid and illiterate... they simply convince them to kill their own babies through abortion.

Prenatal screening is becoming commonplace to rid the world of down syndrome people and others with defects before they are born to avoid the not so popular gas chambers the Nazi’s used after they were born.

The world is no different, nothing has changed, each generation thinks it is morally superior to the last which in actuality is simply does the same things in a different way.

People are shocked when I tell them that Hitler sincerely believed he was going to make the world a better place. Of course, we were/are free to disagree.

My source is the best possible:

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

If you want to accuse Japan of being sensitive to the appearance of being somehow illiberal at a few junctures then I believe you would be on the right track.

and if you were to accuse them of nimble editing of their National History, then I think that would be sensible also.
