Obamacare's popularity is at an all-time high, poll shows
CBS News ^ | August 30th 2017 | Walecia Konrad

Underscoring the adage that you don't know what you've got until it's (almost) gone, the popularity of Obamacare is surging.

Only weeks after Republicans in Congress failed to repeal the landmark health reform law, 52 percent of respondents hold a favorable view of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), according to a recent Kaiser Family Foundation August poll. That's up 10 percentage points since June of last year and nearly 20 points since November 2013, when public support for the ACA was at its nadir.

A July poll by CBS News after the repeal effort collapsed found that a plurality of Americans favor a bipartisan push in Congress to improve Obamacare.

The shift in sentiment coincides with other positive developments for Obamacare following its close call in Washington. With several large, and some smaller, insurers pulling out of the program over the past year or so, until recently it looked as if more than 92,000 participants spread out over 82 counties would have no insurer in their local health care exchanges, Cynthia Cox, associate director of Kaiser Family Foundation, said. But state insurance commissioners and other officials in states in jeopardy of losing Obamacare coverage have worked closely with insurers to negotiate continued coverage.

In Ohio, for instance, there were 20 counties without insurers, but officials ultimately convinced five health plans to cover all but one. Then, on August 24, the Ohio Department of Insurance announced that Paulding County, the last "bare county" in the country, would be covered by insurer CareSource.

In addition, the exchange marketplace overall has shown signs of stabilizing. After big financial losses in 2014 and 2015, individual market insurers saw improved performance in 2016, a trend that has continued this year, according to a different Kaiser Family Foundation study.

Many will say they support it because they have bought the bs that without it there will be no medical treatment available or they have bought into the bs that they have to have insurance without actually knowing what it is.

“52 percent of respondents hold a favorable view of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), according to a recent Kaiser Family Foundation August poll.”

The Kaiser family foundation is a known shill for obamacare.

I have to admit, I find Obama more appealing in his present role as a disgraced irrelevant ex-President who is helpless to stop his repugnant policies from being repealed one by one, than I did in his previous role.

So in that sense, his popularity is at an eight year high in my household.

But I liked him best of all when he was an unknown community organizer whose far-left lunacy had not yet troubled my ears.

So no, his popularity isn’t at an all-time high.

I’ve worked for a large Aerospace company for 35 years. Located in the SF Bay area. They just rolled out next years health care/benefits plan. Benefits (sick leave, short term disability, comp time) have been slashed across the board along with a 32% increase in premiums and sky high deductibles. My health care premiums have risen 458% since 2008. The company told us the feds thought the benefits plan was too generous for the employees and the company would be charged an excise tax of $110M starting in 2020 (and increasing by an unknown amount each year). As usual, the government punishes companies and meddles in the voluntary agreement/arrangement between employee and employer to the detriment of all parties except the one who will collect punishing fees.

People forget that health insurance premiums were falling 5% per year before Ozero decided to give free health care to the nation’s laziest people. Now they are rising 35% per year. HEALTH CARE IS NOT A RIGHT!

Subsidies should be eliminated. Or if we are to keep them, they need to be based solely on income. And illegals should be ineligible. No free stuff for people who are in “protected classes” or here illegally.
