RUSH: Two theories about the McConnell-Ryan reaction. Some people are hoping that the Republican leadership, congressional leadership, McConnell-Ryan reaction to Trump doing a deal with Democrats will be to wake em up, shake em up, and make em realize, Oh, my God! This guys serious! Okay. We gotta help him with his agenda or were gonna be left out in the cold. Some people hope thats the reaction. I dont think thats gonna be their reaction, folks. I think that they are, on balance, okay with it.
I think theyre perfectly fine with Trump doing a deal with the Democrats. Im sure theyre mad that they have to take multiple votes on the debt ceiling and all that because it exposes em more, and it brings the government shutdown threat to the fore in three more months. But lets be honest about something. When it comes to policy Lets look at immigration. When it comes to immigration, McConnell and Ryan are closer to Pelosi and Schumer than they are Trump.
You think Ryan and McConnell want a wall? You think Ryan and McConnell want to build a wall? You think Ryan and McConnell want DACA to be repealed? Theres no way! Ryan and McConnell are much closer on this issue to Schumer Chuck and Nancy. In that sense I think theyre sitting around I think these guys actually get a little tingle of thrill that Washingtons working. Look, our president did a deal with the Democrats, and we have just shown that Washington can work and that governance can happen.
And, lo and behold, Ryan had a weekly press conference today, and he was cheering the bipartisanship. (clap, clap). Even in the throes of all of these hurricanes and the damage and the potential damage, it was wonderful to see that deal. Its a wonderful example of bipartisanship. So I dont know about my theory number one, because I think inside-the-Beltway Republican leadership, their hearts just You know, they just start aflutter at the whole idea that, Look, ma, were governing! Isnt it cool! Yes! Were getting things done!
Oh, yeah. This is why we came. This is why we came. (interruption) No, its not their agenda, but thats not why theyre there. What is the Republican agenda? They won. Theyve been winning elections since 2010. What is the agenda? Stop Trump is the agenda. But even before Trump. (interruption) Stopping Obama was supposedly the agenda, but (interruption) Stop the Tea Party, stop the Tea Party, stop the conservatives. (interruption) Well, I dont know about stop Rush. Maybe. I dont know. (sigh) But heres another thing too.
If elected Republicans think that Trump doing a debt ceiling deal with the Democrats is gonna drive voters back to Republicans, let me ask you this. Ill use Ryan and McConnell just to help people understand what Im talking about. I dont mean them specifically, but Republican leadership Ryan-McConnell, do you think as Trump does a deal ? They know that their voters are not happy with em. All right? They know this. They can read the polling data. They dont care. They aremore concerned if the Chamber is unhappy with them.
The Chambers not, the Chamber likes em. So theyre not concerned what their voters think. But to the extent that they are, if Trump doing a deal with the Democrats, do you think they might think, Well, this is gonna anger This gonna send these Republican voters right back to us. You think theyre thinking that? I hope theyre not, because thats not how its gonna work. Voters might hate that Trump is working with the Democrat on the debt ceiling and overall spending and DACA, but that doesnt mean that theyre gonna all of the find comfort with Republicans who couldnt find a way to repeal Obamacare.
The Republicans have a strategy, and its basically passivity. You know, Ben Shapiro at The Daily Wire, that is his website, and he wrote a piece for the Conservative Review, and it is quite brilliant. Headline: If Republicans Dont Make a Move, They Deserve to Lose Republicans in power have an unfortunate tendency to conserve their political capital rather than invest it. Thats unfortunate because political capital doesnt accrue when you save it. Its not like investing money where it hopefully grows. Political capital degrades.
olitical capital, in this case, is winning an election, controlling the House, having a majority in the Senate. That is political capital. And if you dont spend it, if you dont invest it, if you dont use your newfound power, it simply evaporates; it degrades. Whats the point? It doesnt grow because nobody becomes afraid of you because youre not using your power. On the other hand, Democrats understand that political capital must be used But the Democrats understand something else. Look at the Democrats and Obamacare. This is a great illustration.
The Democrats made an investment in Obamacare that cost them the House and the Senate and the presidency. A lot of people think, Boy, what a dumb move. Those stupid liberals! Those simple-minded, tunnel-visioned liberals. Look what they did! They pass Obamacare, and and and and and theyve lost the House and the Senate and the White House. Well, yeah. But to them it was worth it. You know why? What was Obamacare? Obamacare is eventually gonna become single payer, because the Republicans are not gonna repeal it.
The Democrats invested in Obamacare at the expense of losing the presidency and the House and the Senate. Their return on this is the creation of the belief in the minds of the public that only the government can fix things, only the government can run things which is what the Democrats believe. So even when they lose the House and even when they lose the Senate and when they lose the presidency, their agenda gets advanced because they spend their political capital. Thats the theory. They also wisely rolled the dice and believe the Republicans would not repeal it, because its an entitlement.
And entitlements never get repealed. So the Democrats, they roll the dice. They were willing to lose. They didnt want to lose. Dont misunderstand. They werent trying to lose the House and Senate or the White House, but they were willing to in exchange for this huge leap forward in their agenda. The Republicans simply dont do anything like this. The Republicans, whether they win or lose are not trying to advance an agenda. Thats why Trump was the nominee, and thats why Trump was elected president.
The Republican Party used to be the opposition to the Democrats, and it used to be the small government, small taxes, individual liberty party. Thats what it was known for. Even before you began talking about conservatism, thats what the party was known for. Its been a long time. But now they arent even known or thought of as being in favor of those things. So they have this power, they have this political capital; they are not spending it. Same thing with DACA. Same thing.
Obama implemented the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program knowing that a Republican president could get rid of it with the stroke of a pen. But he knew because he would follow the Republicans. He knows that half the Republican Party agrees with him on amnesty anyway. He knew that the Republicans would not want to, with the stroke of a pen, get rid of DACA cause they wouldnt want to be responsible for packing up a bunch of kids and sending em home. So they did it anyway. Theres just two examples, Obamacare and DACA, where the liberal left advances its agenda and theyre willing to lose elections to do it.
Thats spending their capital. The Republicans are a party of passivity and reactionaries. And if you look at it in this light and you put everything else in the mix that Trumps had a deal with these past six months, making a deal with Pelosi and Schumer. A key to understand, hes not an ideologue. He doesnt see them like you and I do. Hes fed up with no action, fed up being stymied by his own party, whos only in power because of him.
And they wont work with him on his agenda. And as I say, if they just would for three months, none of this need to be happening, none of it if theyd just gotten together on Obamacare, repeal and replace, get serious about tax reform, and start building a wall, three things, then I dont care what capital the Democrats had to spend, it wouldnt have mattered. They would be out of power for the next generation.
But none of thats happened and it doesnt look like any of thats gonna happen. And if you add to that that the Republicans might be pretty tickled pink here that Washingtons working with this deal, Trump and Pelosi, Chuck and Nancy. Well, if this makes them satisfied, if this gives them a little tingle of excitement, Washingtons working, look at us, Ma, were governing. Its working. Isnt it fun? Bipartisanship.
Beta male cucks usually go along with whatever the Alpha male wants. t’s biology.
..and there in lies the problem. We have two losers running the House and the Senate. The 2018 election is all important. We need to support people such as Moore and get rid of people such as Flake. Hopefully the Lord will can McCain back.
The Corporatist Globalist Establishment has both party leaderships in their back pockets along with 95 plus percent of the rank and file.
We need something new and different in Congress from top to bottom.
Might as well rebrand the GOP as the Do Nothing Party.
I still say.. if the veto pen had double Ds trump might find it. How bout a veto pen.. remember the ones that turned nude when they were upside dow... surely we can get one to the White House.

The fake conservatives in the Do Nothing Party must be positively giddy they can gaslight and smear Trump as a liberal. Romney pal and Never Trumper Sasse didn’t even wait 5 minutes to do it.
..and there in lies the problem. We have two losers running the House and the Senate.
We have two losers running Congress because the GOP caucus is full of losers who put them there. The Freedom Caucus voted for Ryan. Likewise in the senate the GOP plantation “conservatives” all happily voted for Turtle McConnnell.
And what the H*ll would those two losers do if they didn’t like it?
The went eyeball to eyeball with our President and they blinked. Trump has called their bluff and is in a stronger strategic position than ever.
Once neutered ...
For a meager 3 months, President Trump gained the coveted bipartisan medal. He can display that many a time in the future. The actual budget probably wasn’t finished yet anyways. I do have to wonder if the speaker and senate leader were in on the scam ahead of time. An 18 month CR would not let you get anything done budgetwise until that ran out. I think the 3 of them played the dems and the dems liked it.
The Democrats are probably going to trade tax reform in return for giving wealthy Democrats and the Chamber of commerce traitors more tax cuts via “tax reform”. The GOP will always sell out for tax cuts and the Democrats will always give them in return for taking another step to control this country and giving their elite who are even wealthier than the Republican establishment more money to burn and more contributions. A classic case of what Marx called the conservative wealthy class”the chance to sell the rope to hang themselves.” No more tax cuts for elites and rinos keep our country from being turned into a third world toilet instead. If they sell out than they should shell out.
Indeed, their pompous speeches don’t get my attention anymore.
They aren’t worth a dime of my money at election time.
Real replacements who stand up for something.
Roy Moore was elected twice as Chief Justice in Alabama and first time wouldn’t remove the Ten Commandments monument when the federal court said he had to.
The Alabama RINO’s removed him from office.
When Moore ruled to interdict a gay marriage ruling from a federal district court after his second election, the board created by the RINO’s removed him from office again.
I’m not upset over Trump’s dealing with the dems, but am doubly angry with the spineless arrogant republicans. I shall NEVER vote repub again.
I thought the GOP up to the Midterms would still ride the wave of a historic win but they managed to squander it all. They have nothing of substance to show working for the American people.
The reason why the board sided against Moore is because they are simpathetic with the gay cause and they probably do each other in the Cloak room. Linda probably has his knee pads on the shelf next to his gallon jug of Vaseline.
Why does McConnell always look like he just sucked on a lemon?
Why does McConnell always look like he just sucked on a lemon?
“I shall NEVER vote repub again.”
How ridiculous. What you do is vote out all RINO’s/GOPe in the primaries so that we get a majority of our people in, not guarantee a Dem Dynasty for years to come.
