Look: 49ers, Rams Open Seasons With Plenty of Empty Seats in Stadiums

The start of the NFL season is normally a pretty big deal across the country. Apparently Los Angeles and San Francisco didn't get the memo.

The Rams and 49ers each opened their season at home Sunday, and both teams had to start their games with lots of empty seats in the stadium.

The Rams are hosting the the Colts, but it seems like the los Angeles fans are not that concerned about being there to see it in person.

The 49ers are welcoming the Panthers, but not even Cam Newton could attract a crowd that wanted to show up for kickoff.

A couple quick observations; Levi stadium sucks. They should have built the stadium with a retractable roof. No one wants to bake in the hot California sun. Secondly, the niners suck. They looked bad yesterday.

Oh, and who wants to go watch players disrespect the flag. The NFL advertisers won’t see my money.

It’s a little bit funny that both sides of this issue are now supposedly boycotting the NFL.

For football fans, there was better, more worthwhile stuff on TV yesterday than there was on the field Sunday. Same case could be made for Friday night for that matter.

However, football is going to change or possibly cease to exist over the next generation. I wonder whether the NFL's long game isn't to "go global" in some way, and stuff like that hsit-head with the afro and his ilk is being tolerated for that reason?

Obviously some obstacles to overcome with such a strategy such as a lack of uh, international interest and talent at the game, but hey, they're broadcasting en espanol now... maybe some Mexicans could start a high school league... maybe the NFL could send some people to help out...

Stay tuned? Or just say screw it and find some other way to enjoy Sunday afternoon like go warm up the .22's, or just go for a nice long walk for that matter?

I like football played by guys that love the game.

I don’t like football played by political puppets shoving their politics in my face at every available opportunity.

Reap what you sow, NFL.

If football players just played football on game day, this would not have happened. I guess they are so rich, they don’t care. Let’s see if they start caring as their salaries shrink.

As for the dialogue on racism that Colin (2-14 loser) claims he wanted to start, I don’t see it happening. The socialists claim he has a First Amendment right to protest, and he does. Patriots recognize that the First Amendment goes both ways, and we can respond when spoiled brats are rude and disrespectful. We are offended when snowflakes disrespect our flag, our anthem, our country, and our service. Neither side is actually in a discussion with anyone but those who agree with their position. Clearly far left players threw away the NFL’s fan base for nothing.

Agreed but these kind of images are WHAT SHOULD BE HAPPENING at the Detroit Lions’ Ford Field.

Why Detroit fans still show up after 60 years(!!) of consecutive losing seasons is beyond me.

I’ll go and make three predictions:

1. That the Thanksgiving games (Cowboys vs Chargers, and Vikings vs Lions) have at best 70-percent of the seats filled.

2. At least three NFL teams will be in a financial crisis by the end of season because of unfilled seats from their stadiums.

3. At least 90-percent of player contracts after this season, will be cut between 10-to-20 percent. Some players will be extremely angry over the cuts, and will start to request owners fire ‘flag-problem-players’.

and the Jets cut Eric Decker, they’re ONLY pro level wide receiver left.

THEN have to cut Sheldon Richardson to GET a half ass receiver and Jeremy Curley

Which means they will be 0 and 16 instead of maybe 7 and 9

because the owner is a cheap ####

40 year fan.

No supberbowl, and NOW kneeling for our anthem? #### it.

I’m done

And I was one of the LAST holdouts here last year.

The anthem stuff and the jets’ suckiness have taken its toll.

plus the kids care more about UFC and many about soccer now.

Times change

My sons love going to United Atlanta soccer games. Not interested in going to Falcons or Braves games.

Well, at least they won their home opener yesterday, lol. I can remember checking into the game at some time during the first half and it was 10-0 Arizona, so I headed out to do a few other things but came home surprised at the end result.

How many teams had players taking a knee during the anthem yesterday?

How will they get that past the unions/courts? There will be no cuts. They may sign new players for lower contracts.
