Don’t buy all the PR-style hooey about ‘dreamers’
Washington Post (!) ^ | 9/12/2017 | Mickey Kaus

Posted on 09/14/2017 5:50:57 AM PDT by RightGeek

Compared with the general population, dreamers are not especially highly skilled. A recent survey for several pro-dreamer groups, with participants recruited by those groups, found that while most dreamers are not in school, the vast majority work. But their median hourly wage is only $15.34, meaning that many are competing with hard-pressed lower-skilled Americans.

The dreamers you read about have typically been carefully selected for their appeal. They’re valedictorians. They’re first responders. They’re curing diseases. They root for the Yankees. They want to serve in the Army.

So why not show compassion and legalize them? Because, as is often the case, the pursuit of pure compassion comes with harmful side effects.

First, it would create perverse incentives. Can you imagine a stronger incentive for illegal immigration than the idea that if you sneak into the country your kids will get to be U.S. citizens? Sure, the protections don’t currently apply to recent entrants — under Obama’s plan, you had to have come before 2007. But those dates can be changed — Obama himself tried to do it once. And the rationale for rewarding those who arrive when young — that they’re here through “no fault of their own” and know only America, etc. — can apply on into the future, with no apparent stopping point.

Second, it would have knock-on effects. Under “chain migration” rules established in 1965 ... new citizens can bring in their siblings and adult children, who can bring in their siblings and in-laws, until whole villages have moved to the United States. That means today’s 690,000 dreamers would quickly become millions of newcomers, who may well be low-skilled and who would almost certainly include the parents who brought them — the ones who, in theory, are at fault.

Yikes, the Post actually published this?

Looks like that proverbial “snowball’s” chances are a little better this AM.

Agree.

Most articles are about “dreamers” as heroes. Dreamer saves baby. Dreamer is war hero. etc., etc.

When they commit rape, murder, pedophilia, robbery, assault, or just plain swindle the taxpayer by sucking up food stamps and welfare payouts, the media never reports it. Certainly not with “Dreamer” in the headline.

The “through no fault of their own” excuse is a canard. Being here illegally is a crime just as entering the country illegally is a crime. The Bad Dreamers, if brought here while infants, once coming to the recognition that they are illegal should do the right thing and go home.

Illegally staying here is a status crime. And they continue to break the law by staying while hundreds of thousands of people trying to immigrate here the right way have to patiently wait their turn.

Deport them all. Give them a deadline and if they self deport by that date their illegal residence here will not be held against them if they apply for legal entry in the future. If they don’t self deport by that date, deport them and bar them from future entry.

Yeah, what is this—WashPost from Bizarro World?

“News organizations are featuring stories from employers who aren’t getting their usual supply of undocumented workers and are forced to take radical measures — such as raising wages. Proof of this connection, in the public mind, may be what terrifies the pro-immigration lobby the most.”

IOW, we weren’t just whistling Dixie.

They, OTOH—their malicious defamation of conservatives and Trump (by the US Chamber of Commerce, SEIU, Club for Growth, Uniparty and all the other usual suspects): “The right are hate-filled racists, nativists and fascists!” is now seen for what it is—truly hateful, false `smoke & mirrors’ designed to maintain a despicable network of human trafficking, including minors in sex trade, and narcotics peddling.

One more time: the Democrats haven’t been this angry with us since the last time we freed their slaves; and having learned our lesson, this time they have to go back.

Funny how the press didn’t cover antifa until Trump compared them to white supremacist.

Democrats are setting up for the fail of DACA

He missed the most important point - especially for Americans in the Southwest:

Just as with the 1986 Amnesty the vast majority of those benefiting will be Mexicans. In the case of Obama's DACA it's 78% (622,000 of 800,000) while for the 1986 Amnesty it was similarly 77% (2,267,000 of 2,943,000).

** The Mexican bar is not to scale. If it were it would be 20x taller **

(Hat tip to Oldeconomybuyer)

We've been living through nothing less than the fulfillment of "The Reconquista" dreams of Mexico's ruling class with other countries' illegals as cover and the all too critical assistance of the open-borders American 5th column.

Many Dreamers are gangmembers, welfare queens and felons.

Trump wants to give them all amnesty so they (and their extended families) can vote for Democrats.
