Note that many credit unions offer this service for free to members, especially if you have several accounts with them.
This situation sucks. The government is 100% responsible for allowing this situation to develop: the amassing of highly-confidential information about individuals against their will in agencies that would never admit that they are ARMS OF THE GOVERNMENT.
Do you know that banks and credit bureaus are regulated to the extent that they are effectively a branch of the government?
This is how its done. They give it a nice-sounding name, like “bank” or “credit bureau” and then they exert total control. Did you know that banks regularly report your financial information to the government?
