So, who is the white supremacist evil "nuveau nazi" German DJT? Has erkel volunteered to appear to help merkel out? And, as usual, the "right" is portrayed as evil nazi types (the originals were part of the national socialist democrat party) while the "left" is always the humane caring bunch. Weird huh?

“the overtly racist AfD”
It’s not racist. It wants to keep the murdering, raping racists from entering Germany. Murkul is the racist.

Far right in Germany would be “run of the mill” socialist in the USA.

"overtly racist"
Are they? I sincerely don't know, but I have learned to distrust ANY description of a conservative European party coming from the MSM.

"FAR RIGHT" = Germans who love their country and don't want it invaded by Muslim murderers and rapists

"Americans can be forgiven for thinking Germany has already successfully thwarted Alternative for Germany (AfD) . . . "
Hey, WaPo, who says that all "Americans" should have the same view of the AFD, and that all "Americans" should be glad if it fails?

Anything to the right of a Marxist is considered “right wing” (evil).
To: rktman
Thats because even a small AfD presence in the Bundestag could have the power to disrupt German politics and even derail its economy. Does WacomPost mean like the Dems in Congress?......

I wonder when the Washington Compost will ever use the term “far left” to identify a political party or individual. I’m not holding my breath.

“In fact, many are worried sick about the virtual certainty of a far-right partys entrance to Parliament.”
Whereas, I and all sane people are quite happy about that.

“the right-wing populist movements pounding on the gates of Europe”
Hey Compost! It’s the Muslims who are pounding and entering the gates of Europe not the indigenous German population. You dyslexic idiots.

The AfD is considered “far” right because they take pride in their German heritage, support traditional family values (anti-homo, but are OK with civil unions), and they’re skeptical of “climate change”. All this makes them “radical” (radical in the wrong way). Oh, and they consider themselves conservatives and they’re middle-class (the HORROR!!!).

Some of the Comments are pretty brutal. The problem the WaPo has with this is that slapping a White Supremacist, racist, Nazi label on every American who happens to own a MAGA hat means that the terms cease to have any meaning very quickly, and everyone recognizes the scam that is being attempted when those labels are slapped on other countries' politics. The author here is attempting to delegitimize their concerns rather than understand them. One is left with the impression that she isn't very bright, the more so for the patronizing little disquisition on how parliamentary politics works. Most of us do get that, Bethany, which is why we're reading the piece in the first place.
This whole approach to rhetorically crying wolf suffers from the same problem the original fairy tale did: when real Nazis come along no one is going to be listening anymore. The WaPo used to be better than that, but it was once upon a time, long, long ago.

A car right party who loves their country is racist. Ok...I guess I am, according to the left. I'm not, I might be Deplorable, but I'm not racist. 😀
