To: Molon Labbie

I had a childhood friend who was killed in a police confrontation.

He had Asperger syndrome and could not read their intentions.

But the police were NOT at fault...just a horrible thing and I know they suffered more than he.

My worst nightmare. My boy has autism and would not understand either. He’s big and very strong, and would probably require a lot of force and officers to contain if he were taken into custody for something.

One of the things we learned in the police academy is that all people have limits to their pain threshold. Once that limit has been crossed and they are no longer feeling pain for compliance, you as the officer are in a bad place, because they have gotten to a point where the only thing left is deadly force.
