President Donald Trump criticized NFL players who lodge protests during the pregame national anthem, saying Friday night that he wished those players would be released and encouraging fans who are offended to walk out of stadiums.
Speaking at a political rally in Huntsville, Alabama, Trump said: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now. Out. He's fired! He's fired!"
Trump said the protests, which became public last year when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled for a preseason national anthem, are "hurting the game."
Trump didn't mention Kaepernick or any other NFL player specifically during the speech. The QB opted out of his contract with the 49ers during the offseason and has not been signed by a new team since.
"The only thing you could do better," Trump said, "is if you see it, even if it's just one player, leave the stadium. I guarantee things will stop. Things will stop. Just pick up and leave. Pick up and leave. Not the same game anymore, anyway."
Trump went on to say referees are "ruining the game" by calling 15-yard penalties for "beautiful" tackles. He also said that NFL ratings are down "massively, massively" because people prefer watching him. NFL ratings dropped eight percent in 2016 compared to 2015.
An NFL spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what Trump said.
Very little to be proud of as a Jets fan, but nobody has sat out the Nartional Anthem yet, so at least we have that.

One of our clown 1st round busts (Calvin Pryor) never knelt here but did when he got to Cleveland, before getting cut for something stupid. Makes me believe the Johnsons have something in place regarding guidelines for respecting our flag during the National Anthem.

Trump might have just saved the NFL because he might just have woken the #### up the owners and some players.
OR so many will kneel this weekend because of him that they will be destroyed and have to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Those of us who are old enough to remember when government was not in our every day lives .. when the media was not on 24 hours a day and in the 15 min broadcast they did not go political... when our kids could pray in school if they chose.. when respect was taught from the cradle to the grave.. when we went through WWII and even hollywood volunteered and served ... when the movies were fit to go see .. when we didn’t walk around with a phone tethered... when you could go out and not be afraid ... when we didn’t have to lock our doors .. when many times a deal could be made with a handshake .. when we got our first credit card and thought it was a good thing (not so)... when family was family.. I could go on.. but I say all the above to say..
This political crap today is killing our nation!! all the above is gone... in its place is ruling by the left who never did have sense one in their whole body!.. They are the minority and yet the elite from sports to hollywood will defend their degenerate lifestyle and let them tear up a city and take a knee to protest the flag that represents their freedoms to make a million $$ in a land they despise.... and they can’t articulate their reasoning because it will never make any sense.
