A political group with close ties to President Donald Trump is amplifying his attack on professional athletes who kneel during the national anthem as a form of protest.
“Turn off the NFL,” reads a digital ad produced by the nonprofit America First Policies, which planned to begin spreading the message on social media Sunday afternoon.
The ad includes a photo with Trump, hand over his heart, and a #TakeAStandNotAKnee hashtag. It follows Trump’s recent remarks, first delivered during a Friday night speech in Alabama, aimed at football players who have protested police brutality and other causes.
While campaigning for Luther Strange, who is locked in a tough Republican primary to keep the Alabama Senate seat he was appointed to earlier this year, Trump asked those in the audience if they would "love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'get that son of a bitch off the field right now.'" He added that such players should be fired.
Trump continued the attack over the weekend on Twitter.
“If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect … our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem,” Trump posted in a series of tweets. "If not, YOU'RE FIRED. Find something else to do!”
NFL team owners and players reacted strongly and disapprovingly to Trump’s push.

Ask if they side with the kneelers who disrespect our flag, our national anthem and our country.
Nah, Goodell will get his money from the owners. I think he has video evidence on each of them. However, I think the NFL and football in general will become as irrelevant as boxing has become within the next 20 years.
My reasoning is that more and more parents are forbidding their sons to play any kind of organized football at the elementary school level. Because of this, many of these boys will become more interested in soccer, basketball, baseball and any number of other "less violent" sports offered by the schools.
Eventually, the lack of kids playing in elementary and middle schools will result in a dearth of boys to play at the high school level and high school football will become sparse and regional. That will propagate to the college level, and so on up to the point that there isn't enough new "talent" to replace those leaving the game due to age or infirmities.
When this happens, the NFL (and CFL, when you get down to it) will have three options. Either severely cut the number of players per team, cut the number of teams in the league, or just fold up the tents and call it a day.
Will the owners and coaches follow through on these rules?

the per capita crime rate of NFL players is astronomical. They just want to be left alone by the police to do their thing. They have no right to disrespect our national honor in the name of thug impunity. They can all go to hell early. I stand on the side of Trump and our troops, the entire thug friendly NFL can take a knee (and a boot in the rear)
