That is how this needs to be handled, at work you work, at your leisure you protest. Kneel at work - fired or traded

Only if your employer allows it. Your employer has the inalienable right to fire you, if they tell you not to do it.

"Are Americans afforded national political platforms during work hours to broadcast their political views?"

Yes, newsreaders at CBS, ABC, NBC and CNN. Also news reporters at the NY Times, Wash Post, LA Times....

I was a GE Appliances technician for 32 years and knew if I made political statements in customers homes I would be fired.

The NFL approves of them doing this.
That’s the difference

I’m a federal employee and the answer is no.

Unless you were an Obama voter.

Then you got a free pass.

As it should be for federal employees.

But a private employer has the inalienable right to allow it or forbid it.

That is a key point. Most Americans would risk summary firing if they mounted a political protest in their workplace and commanded the attention of the customers and general public. And, as for the NFL, if the players can make political protests in the stadium, then what about the fans?

That’s up to the NFL owners. So far they don’t seem to mind.

I have been making this point since this past weekend. If they want to protest, do it on their own time. Protesting their personal, and political dislikes is not included in their paychecks, nor I’m sure their contracts. I worked for NY State in uniform, and was forbidden to participate in any political events while I was in uniform, and on duty. If I had, I would have been brought up on departmental charges, and terminated.

I was severely reprimanded and barely escaped reeducation camp for refusing to “celebrate gay pride” where I worked. Ok, I took down a poster in the break room. I then complained they were promoting a hostile workplace, violating my religious principals, being offensive, etc., etc. Of course, being a Christian white man, none of these tenents of snowflakery apply to me. I am so glad I am retired now and can (and do) tell these people to FO.

After 35 years working for two major companies, I assure you, you keep your mouth shut on this stuff or you end up in a parking lot looking for the company care that disappeared with your job. They should FIRE THE SOBs!

Last year a Seattle-area HS teacher/football coach was fired for leading some of his players in a voluntary prayer after games. (He is suing.) He was not protesting anything, just praying, but local media supported his firing, the same media who support the NFL player protests.
