PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - A first grader in Pasco County chose to take a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance, and his mother is upset with how the teacher, the school and the Pasco County school district responded.

At school on Monday, a local first grader went down on one knee during the Pledge of Allegiance, he was then told by his teacher to stand up and stop it, in front of all his classmates. His choice came after countless NFL players took a knee during the national anthem on Sunday, setting off a storm nationwide, sparking discussions in homes across America.

That boy's mother is speaking out because of a text message she received from her son's first-grade teacher about the incident.

The text message read:.....(see inside)

When I was in school the policy was that parents who objected to their kids standing for the Pledge were allowed to put it in writing and those students were allowed to sit quietly at their desks or leave the classroom. The teachers and principals admonished us young skulls full of mush in no uncertain terms not to harass those kids because of it.

The good part is that the teacher told him to stand up. You won’t get that out of many NEA thought control camps nowadays.

Not to mention, no doubt Pasco County’s finest will get to know this punk very well by the time he reaches adolescence.

I thought taking the knee had the purpose of showing disrespect?

Just have the kid stand outside. It’s the parent’s call.

I recall a few kids who were Jehovah's Witnesses doing that in elementary school. No fuss, no muss. But of course, they weren't seeking media attention.

Finally a story where I can agree with the teacher and the parent can go jump in a lake. Or the Rio Grande.

Completely unthinkable! In my school, he wouldn’t have hardly made it out the door for recess. He would get pummeled!

...maybe even a googolplex or a Skewes’ number.

Studies have shown that people are more likely to vote Republican when they see a flag or hear the anthem. That is a big part of the war on both. Democrats want to destroy loyalty to the country so they can create a new loyalty to the party only as part of a move to tyranny.

My parents are JWs.
The SOP was to remain seated quietly during the Anthem and Pledge.
That eventually changed to standing just not reciting the Pledge.
Reasoning was, standing showed RESPECT in spite of religious objection.
That was a loong time ago, I’m not sure if that has since changed

Not sure if that has changed, either. My parents are dyed in the wool J W s also—in their mid eighties and shunning me for leaving the cult in my early 40s. As a kid, we would be excused from the pledge, anthem, birthday, Easter, Xmas and Halloween parties. Spent most of my school year in the library—then 2 hours at night reading at the kingdom hall (church). The premise is that you shouldn’t be loyal to any country but only to God.
IF you attended a public event, the trick was to be seated AFTER the pledge/anthem so as not to draw attention.

The kid can opt out of carrying the pledge with a note from his parents, but must stand quietly while the others say it.
