The Environmental Protection Agency is spending nearly $25,000 to provide Administrator Scott Pruitt something none of his predecessors have had a custom soundproof booth for making private phone calls.
EPA did not respond to questions on Wednesday from The Associated Press about the government contract for the privacy booth for the administrator ordered last month, according to a summary of the contract listed in a federal procurement database. The contract for the booth, due for delivery by Oct. 9, was first reported by The Washington Post.
EPA spokeswoman Liz Bowman told the newspaper that the booth would serve as a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility, known as a SCIF, which are secure rooms used to house computers and equipment for communicating over classified government networks. Federal agencies need to have one of these so that secured communications, not subject to hacking from the outside, can be held, Bowman said.
But former EPA officials told AP that explanation doesnt make much sense.

The Cone of Silence!
“The Cone of Silence” from the Swamp. Hope he does not revert to be a member.
That show still makes me laugh.
Nessary for the employee leaking going on.
The Cone of Silence!
Excellent, I was going to say that also!
Drop in the bucket. Cut off funding for the lame Climate Models and we’re good to go.
Some of the best TV ever. Agent99 wasn’t too shabby either...
Agreed on counts. Barbara Feldon was cute as can be.
In other parts of the federal government, they’re called a, SCIF. But let’s not talk about those and how widely used they are.
What does the EPA do that needs that level of secrecy? Deciding which river to pollute, what color to turn it and how to cover it up?
Hit pieces in the media show that Pruitt must be doing something right.
A badge of Honor - flak is heaviest over the target.
Guess he can’t trust some of Obama’s EPA spies.
The Cone of Silence bit makes me laugh in a different way today than it did when I watched is as a kid.
I now work of a large corporation that has procedures for everything you can imagine.
Both Smart and the Chief know that the Cone of Silence does not work but Smart sites procedure to the Chief and the Chief therefore must consent to use the counterproductive devise.
I see this kind of behavior at work on a regular basis. Lower level employees site procedures that are counterproductive but technically applicable to either get out of work or to irritate the boss.
Certain individuals that have a good memory for procedures can delay a job for hours by citing a procedure section that requires something be done that will make no difference in the outcome but is not been planned for.
I dont know if the writers of the show had this kind of satire in mind but it strikes me as appropriate to todays business world.

A badge of Honor - flak is heaviest over the target.
When operating behind the enemy’s line you need secure com’s.
“Hit pieces in the media show that Pruitt must be doing something right.”
Too bad we don’t have similar results being reported at Justice and State.
Lol! This
I cant imagine an sgency thats probably more littered with Trump haters or an agency head that needs more countermeasures from internal sabotage
