The NFL says the message players and teams are trying to express is being lost in a political firestorm.

The issues have been "overtaken by political forces," NFL spokesman Joe Lockhart said Thursday, referring to President Trump's criticism of the league, team owners and players for kneeling during the national anthem.

More than 200 players either knelt or used other means as expressions of unity last weekend. Lockhart said such actions are not a protest against the anthem or the flag.

No, I understand the message clearly. They hate the flag and the troops, love BLM types. Real clear to me. Oh hate the evil white man for holding them down to only a 12mil dollar a year job, you know keeping them on that millionaire plantation.

Let us get them off that plantation!

The problem is the message was heard loud and clear, and now all you can do is like about it.

Seriously, how many of them are actually protesting President Trump's remarks.

Libtards can't help themselves--they automatically throw a fit at whatever Trump says.

The original message was: “we’re poor underpaid employees who have to work hard for fifteen minutes of actual work and we’re being abused”

They unleashed political forces they were too dense to understand. They think someone else did it.

It’s like someone playing with gasoline, and then saying “somehow I caught on fire!”

The NFL must think that I have an IQ that's roughly equal to the median IQ of the league's player rosters.

One thing to also consider - these actions of the players DIRECTLY effect the NFL itself!

What outside forces are working on this, and how could they so EASILY, ‘play’ the, ‘players?’ These guys are not only biting the hand that feeds them, but losing their fan base who ALSO feed them. No audience, no games, no paycheck.

And what could the OWNERS possibly be gaining through this? It makes absolutely NO sense! This is HARDLY a Business Model for running a business, unless you WANT to run it into the ground.

I worked in Retail for LONGER than I care to remember, and if I had INSULTED my customers when they came in to shop with me, how long do you think I’d have lasted?

The issues have been "overtaken by political forces,"

WTF is that supposed to mean? The "issues" WERE political forces all along.

What exactly IS their "message"?

Do they want blacks to have the right to vote? To drive, to own a business, to play on pro sports teams, to run for public office... what exactly do they want?

“Joseph Patrick “Joe” Lockhart (born July 13, 1959) is a spokesman and communications consultant, best known for being the White House Press Secretary from October 5, 1998 to September 29, 2000, during the administration of U.S. President Bill Clinton. He worked as press secretary for several Democratic politicians, including Walter Mondale, Paul Simon, and Michael Dukakis; he was an advisor to John Kerry during his 2004 presidential campaign.”

Interesting how the NFL spokesman is a former Bill Clinton hack, and all those players who have come out with their nonsense campaigned with Hillary Clinton. I’m also betting that most of those owners and coaches also supported Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Could any of that have anything to do with the ongoing leftward lurch of the NFL, and ESPN?

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." -- Colin Kaepernick

"It's not about the flag!" -- [Insert Name of Idiot NFL Executive or Player Here]

This entire professional sports league sounds like it's collectively 'effing retarded.

Totally disingenuous, it was always political, and it was always intended to provoke a reaction. That's what political protest is, pushing hot buttons, "Here! Pay attention to me!" You don't attack the flag or the anthem with anything in mind other than outraging people, and it worked. Pretending otherwise when the reaction isn't what you wanted is simply transparent and stupid.

Even more transparent and stupid is this sudden shift to arm-linking as a sign of team unity against Trump, who had the temerity to point out that insulting the anthem and the flag was offensive. That also happens to be arm-linking against the fans who feel the same way, and that turns out to be a significant majority.

What to do now? Well, the smart thing to do is drop the whole thing and pretend it never happened, was "misunderstood" (although we understood it perfectly well), was anything other than what it really was. And shut up. What are they actually doing? Doubling down, of course. Sucker's game.
