Frisco(TX) ISD Won’t Punish Football Players Who Protest National Anthem
CBSDFW ^ | 9/28/17

FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) – The Frisco School District has told coaches not to stop any athletes who decide to take a knee before the National Anthem this weekend.

The directive hasn’t come because the district has any indication, or notice that students may emulate recent professional football player’s protests on bended knee… but a spokesperson for the district said it wants to protect coaches from getting into any trouble should something happen.

Here’s the message they sent to coaches:

Over the weekend, many pro football players expressed their First Amendment right by choosing to kneel during the national anthem, before the start of the game. We would like to remind you that should you have a player choose to kneel during the National Anthem, they may do so without repercussion.

Hmm,Frisco is courting Jeff Bezos and Amazon and some on Frisco's team did take a knee tonight. Seems like Frisco's leaders are trying to make a deal with the devil.

I would consider that kind of behavior to be a declaration that person did not value their position on the team enough, to keep it.

Maybe next year...

Just make it known up front what the penalty will be, and be done with it.

Then follow through.

Can a kid go out there and use their free speech to advocate for a car dealership, or a local restaurant before or during the game?

This IS NOT a free speech issue.

They can do it on their own time, when not affiliated with a school function.

As Trump said, the teams are afraid to discipline their players. Time to start writing up better contracts.
Payment contingent on proper and respectful behavior while playing or practicing.

The district wants to “protect coaches from getting into any trouble should something happen.”

Then, the message says “players [can] choose to kneel during the National Anthem, they may do so without repercussion.”

So they are protecting the coaches from trouble when their athletes act out their unAmerican proclivities? Seems like they should reverse that and protect the coaches when they give the acting-out youth a good swift kick in the arse and send him to the showers for the game. Next time he does it, he’s off the team.

THAT is the coach behavior that they should protect. Especially in Texas.

Maybe the kneeling hasn’t gone far enough.

Maybe it needs to be both knees, begging God to forgive this now-wicked (because it’s godless) country.

There is one entity before whom kneeling is correct, even in the face of a national ceremony.

And that entity is the Lord God.

I wish the kneelers would kneel on both knees and pray fervently to God to forgive America for its wickedness.

If the players wanted to pray before the game for national unity, success on the field, and that nobody get hurt, I’d be all for it. It should take place before the event formalities take place.

I don’t have a problem with a guy on the field thanking God for success either. It’s showing respect for God, and doesn’t put anyone else down.

Some are now trying to trash Christians who kneel on the field after touchdown or some such.

That angers me as much or more than the current things do.

The national anthem asks a poignant question. We normally don’t notice it because we are sound bite oriented today. Not poetry oriented.

“Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?”

That’s not to be answered with a presumptuous YES. It’s to be answered in reflection. It’s not about the flag. It’s about the country!

Frighteningly, the answer is more and more NO.

I’m not as incensed over the kneelers as a lot of people are. What I would want to see is for it to lead to earnest prayer. Not just as an anti-standing gesture.

Isn’t that the district that shares the Dallas Cowboys training facility so the high school team play indoors?

This activity says two things > IMO.

1. This nation is very racist, Whites undeniably are, and that needs to change.

2. The national anthem and flag are no longer worthy of our respect.

Kneeling or arms linked, means the same thing to me, and they buttress the first premise.

Any acting out during the Anthem pushes number two.

I can’t tolerate either. I won’t, ideologically.

The Supreme Court has ruled on the question of public schools requiring students to stand for patriotic reasons: anthem, pledge, etc. Schools may not require students to stand and may not punish them for not standing.

The school district is protecting its coaches, and itself from lawsuits.

West Virginia Board v. Brunette is the relevant case.

But you have an excellent point. There seems to be more furor over breach of ceremony, than there is that people aren’t allowed to genuflect at will to the Lord. That somehow seems an odd prioritization. This is surely putting the cart before the horse.

God sometimes acts in mysterious ways. The end that we thought was impossible by one means, might be achieved by another. I observe that the nation is saturated with sad sin, and it doesn’t know a color of skin. It envelops black and white people alike. I frankly believe Donald Trump showed a bit of tone deafness when calling the protestors SOB’s without even first questioning why their protests. What do they see wrong with America? I believe the critics who say it isn’t economic inequality, as meme after meme has pointed out. It’s a lack of treasuring the grace of God. So what if Mr. Kaepernick earns 1.3 million dollars a year? Is this more comfort to the soul than 1.3 million heads of lettuce or 1.3 million stalks of celery would be? Are we drowning our woes in the forgetfulness of the material world?

I think there does need to be better understanding of the common black people’s situation by white people, an understanding on the Jesus level.

I believe, yes, that a lot of black people are shooting themselves in the foot spiritually. But so are a lot of white people. They just show the resulting poverty in different ways. White people live in meaningless wealth because it’s treated as self-earned rather than God-bestowed. Black people find no comfort in their Africanesque style because there is no blessing from God asked upon it — it’s as from their own souls alone. And so two populations suffer together.

I should say: suffer together, yet apart.

They saw the NFL quasi backtrack and are afraid football won’t be ruined. That’s the goal.

Have those unnamed persons of the “Frisco School District” ever actually read the First Amendment?

It Texas? As a coach, if I followed that order it would only be the letter and not the spirit. Any spoiled brat who chose to kneel would not play. You can stand for the Anthem, or you can sit for the game. If that costs the game, it’s better than the price of tolerating that level of disrespect to our country.

We have a war on Terror. These scumbags would attack the National Anthem as a monument during WWII and they would be executed as traitors.

The NFL is waging a civil war and encouraging Affirmative Action blacks to walk out or betray us.

This is so fcked up, it is beyond discussing whether to punish or not but HOW!

The Frisco School District has told coaches not to stop any athletes who decide to take a knee before the National Anthem this weekend.

Is this action evidence of the success of the Obama Administration to apologize for America? Is this trickle-down hate?

Are our school children being taught to hate the USA?

Where is this taking our country?
