JERUSALEM, Israel — As Russian forces conduct a major military exercise this week in northwestern Belarus, one man has ominous words to describe the latest global aggression directed by President Vladimir Putin. “After 16 years of writing about radical Islam I’m personally convinced that Vladimir Putin is more dangerous than radical Islam, “ Joel Rosenberg, bestselling author of numerous books on radical Islam and the Islamic State, told Breitbart News.
“Dubbed Zapad — or ‘West’ — 2017, it’s the latest edition of a quadrennial large-scale drill that was once a key mobilization for the Soviet Union and its allies in the Warsaw Pact,” the Washington Post reported. “This year, only the forces of Russia and Belarus are involved, but given the tensions surrounding Moscow’s relations with Europe and the United States, it’s no surprise the exercise is being treated as a momentous geopolitical act.”
Ironically, the Post’s reporting on Russia’s move seems to praise the Communist dictator, saying “The exercises will show off a military that has been transformed under President Vladimir Putin into an effective force that has deployed to Syria and Ukraine in recent years."

When we start seeing Russian Orthodox suicide bombers declaring their allegiance to Putin before blowing up a bunch of civilians in the US or Western Europe, Rosenberg will have a point.
Putin is not eager to commit suicide. Putin is not focused on getting his 72 virgins. Putin could blow up the world, but he has enough sense not to do it.

The Soviet Union pushed a globalist ideology. Even if a twisted one, it provided a common thread among Marxist revolutionary movements around the world. The Soviet Union is gone.
Russia’s new ideology is inward: Russian nationalism, historic Christianity, and Russia’s own power. Its simply gone back to 19th century European power politics.

I’m not apologist for Putin. I haven’t really studied up on him. For all I know he will start WWIII... or he could be an awesome and totally misrepresented guy. It’s probably somewhere far in the middle.

In think the lunatics in change have decided they can engineer and conduct a non-nuclear military fight with Russia, teach them a lesson, and establish unquestioned worldwide dominance.
They are going to get us nuked. Its an absolute article of faith in Russia that there will never be another war where an enemy physically destroys Russia and doesn’t get their homeland destroyed in immediate retaliation.
These are dangerous times.
Obama and Clinton practically sold America out to Russia and the left did NOTHING. My opinion is that ANY Russian tampering within America was met with a blind eye or complicity. Now they want to bring about a “red scare” that the left had howled about since McCarthy.
And anyway, IF Russia helped defeat Hillary in any way, that was an act of friendship and compassion to America.

Or so he says. An airplane did crash into the White House in 1994. In March of 2001, the TV show The Lone Gunmen featured an attempt to fly a commercial aircraft into the World Trade Center. So maybe Rosenberg isn't that much of a prophet.
“So I go back to my premise: Vladimir Putin is more dangerous than radical Islam,” Rosenberg said, adding that Americans better “wake up before it’s too late.” “Putin is the greatest geo-political threat that the West faces,” Rosenberg said.
Mitt Romney thanks you, Joel, and maybe he'll send you chocolates or something. But seriously, as bad as Putin is, he's not "irrational," that is to say, he calculates probable gains and losses and isn't trying to bring about the apocalypse. He's probing for Western weaknesses, but he's not going to destroy our cities any time soon.
