Delingpole: Trump to Repeal and Replace Obama’s ‘Stupid’ and ‘Job Killing’ Clean Power Plan

President Trump is to take his first step towards scrapping President Obama’s “stupid” and “job killing” Clean Power Plan, an aghast New York Times reports. The Trump administration will repeal the Clean Power Plan, the centerpiece of President Barack Obama’s effort to fight climate change, and will ask the public to recommend ways it could be replaced, according to an internal Environmental Protection Agency document.

The draft proposal represents the administration’s first substantive step toward rolling back the plan, which was designed to curb greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector, after months of presidential tweets and condemnations of Mr. Obama’s efforts to reduce climate-warming pollution.

But it also lays the groundwork for new, presumably weaker, regulations by asking for the public and industry to offer ideas for a replacement.

In 2016, when it launched the plan at Obama’s behest, the EPA declared that the Clean Power Plan was a vital, cost-effective way of combating climate change which would ultimately benefit the U.S. consumer.

Unless Trump repeals, decapitates, puts a wood stake thru the heart, burns and salts the earth of every Obama policy, it will be resurrected under a Democrat President. God forbid.

If Odumbo and his cronies were for it...it almost certainly was bullshit and bad for America!

I think we’ve already forgotten WINNING with getting the pipelines moving. It seems so long ago...but it’s just a few months.

Why is there so much preparatory telegraphing? I see no advantage. Just make it so, #1!

The President asked for comment

You should submit your succinct comment to him

It is a liberals wet dream to use tax dollars to install devices that are not commercially feasible and blame conservatives for the most ridiculous things. Look at history of Billy Carter’s brother Jimmy and his California windmills. I wonder if any of them have broken even or are just broken. Did they ever pay the tax subsidies.

Thorium energy, Mr. President. Thorium energy.

Clean, safe, abundant, very inexpensive.

No Paris deals, no more tree-hugging maniacs, vastly reduces the use of hydrocarbons.

But it won’t produce any weapons grade plutonium, much to the chagrin of the NeoCon nutjobs, and the girls at the Pentagon.

Exactly right. We are going to get whipsawed between extremes every four or eight years forevermore. All because of the a$$hole that said he was going to “transform the best nation on earth” — he sure did that. There is probably no way to prevent a future president from undoing things.

The best thing Trump could do I’d get lots of brand new coal fired power plants expedited, permitted and built post-haste. Of course the next commie-Dem pres could simply declare “those are unlawful to operate and must be shut down in six months.”

Hopefully, no more taxpayer-funded pork for the Greedy Greens, who blew billions before declaring bankruptcy. No wonder the NYT is “aghast.” Mr. President, keep up the good work!

Sorry, the ONLY reason we get whip-sawed it because of illegal and out of control GOVT. An Exec. whom doesn’t enforce the law\makes up their own*, a Judicial that makes law from whole cloth and doesn’t rule based upon clear English of the Constitution* and a Legislative that illegally gives away its power*.

* (and refuses to do reign in the other two)

Unfort, as you say, DJT isn’t doing anyone any favors here. Nobody will move is they think in 3 years it might flip back.

I really wished he would have the proper people him and the will to sign ONE EO upon sitting behind the Res. Desk: All prior EOs are hereby rescinded. As per the Constitution of the U.S., no law can be created by the Executive.

Speaking of “stupid” and “job killing” energy policies, our PM Turdeau has strangled the Canadian oil industry (centred in Western Canada), which was already struggling with low oil prices. A major pipeline that would have taken western crude to eastern refineries was just killed as a result of absurd “greenhouse gas” mandates, a cabal of Liberal and other leftist politicians, and the aboriginal rights lobby. Another pipeline and LNG plant were previously killed, and the one pipeline approved to take crude west through the province of British Columbia will likely be killed by the courts through environmentalist harassment litigation.

For decades eastern provinces have benefitted from huge transfer payments funded by federal taxation of the western energy industry, so that leftist governments can fund lavish welfare programs. Even with the drop in prices, western oil is still a huge cash cow for the federal government to “redistribute wealth” to the reckless eastern provinces. And now those same eastern leftists are celebrating the demise of the oil and gas industry that funds their stupidity. Like laughing at the driver of a car going over a cliff, without realizing that you’re sitting in the driver’s seat.

Our main stock market index (Toronto Stock Exchange) used to be very close to the US but is now over 7000 points behind the DOW’s Trump Market. Turdeau is taking us down the chute to economic oblivion.

Thanks. I didn’t realize that energy situation in Canada. That’s a textbook case of “killing the goose that lays golden eggs.”

Everybody knew what Trudeau was when he got elected. As,they say, people elect the government they deserve.

I grew up in upstate New York. The biggest and constant complaint of parents and their friends was that New York City was bleeding upstate dry. Just like eastern liberal Canada vs. energy rich Western Canada.

“Unless Trump repeals, decapitates, puts a wood stake thru the heart, burns and salts the earth of every Obama policy, it will be resurrected under a Democrat President. God forbid.”

Your above statement gets very old.

The reality is without massive changes in congress uniparty rectums to MAGA people, Trump will not get anything done via congress. That is the voters’s fault for sending and keeping undocumented Democrats to congress and allowing them to stay there. That is our fault not Trump’s.

The only thing that Trump can do these days with the congressits, he inherited from you and I as voters, is to bypass them and repeal Obama’s XO’s with his XO’s.

That is not bad, evil nor dumb with the congress Trump inherited from us. It is the grim reality with our congress.

Each Obama EO, Trump repeals, saves us money and resources until a democrat becomes president.

How do we prevent a Democrat from being President?

The same way we did with H Clinton in the last election!

Thanks for posting this reality. We know a few liberal elites who sold our stocks and bought Canadian companies and even Canadian homes*/shopping centers.

Our main stock market index (Toronto Stock Exchange) used to be very close to the US but is now over 7000 points behind the DOW’s Trump Market. Turdeau is taking us down the chute to economic oblivion.

*Canadians, Eurotrash elites, the ChiComs and liberals from the east coast continue to be big buyers of homes in California since the election last Novembe.

If its such a good idea why did Obama wait until 2016 to launch it?

Canada is the canary in the coal mine for Americans. You don’t have to speculate what would have happened if Hilary was elected, you can see it happening just north of the border. Whatever Trudeau does, you better hope Trump does the opposite.

ps. This same government that is kneecapping Canadian oil (to the advantage of imported oil from the middle east and Venezuela), give massive subsidies to Bombardier - the Quebec based manufacturer of train cars, subway cars, and commuter jets. Bombardier recently got hit with a 220% countervailing duty by the US because of these government subsidies. I’d ordinarily shed a tear for people who may lose work because of trade restrictions, but the Quebecers who voted for Trudeau have to wear this.

The Greedy Greens. I like it!

I’ve worked around some of them, and my perception is that many of them have a heavy dose of narcissism.

They have elevated environmentalism to a religion, and believe they are fighting the good fight. Curiously, a lot of them are quite interested in making a lot of money off their efforts at the same time.
