Press Release Statement on Trump Administration's Decision Regarding Obamacare Payments October 12, 2017|Speaker Ryan's Press Office

WASHINGTON–House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) today issued the following statement regarding the Trump administration’s determination that certain payments under Obamacare have no valid appropriation:

“Under our Constitution, the power of the purse belongs to Congress, not the executive branch. It was in defense of this foundational principle that the House, under the leadership of former speaker John Boehner, voted in 2014 to challenge the constitutionality of spending by the Obama administration that was never approved by Congress. The House was validated last year when a federal court ruled that the Obama administration had indeed been making unauthorized and therefore illegal payments through Obamacare. Today’s decision by the Trump administration to end the appeal of that ruling preserves a monumental affirmation of Congress’s authority and the separation of powers. Obamacare has proven itself to be a fatally flawed law, and the House will continue to work with Trump administration to provide the American people a better system.”

He should have been put into Leavenworth for what he did to NASA alone! Flagrant violation of the 1st amendment!

“It sounds to me like the speaker approves.
Why all the angst?”

Because St. Pauli Girl Ryan is a snowflake wimp that is incapable of leading.

He refuses to repeal Obamacare. He is incompetent. In the business world “You’re Fired!!” is what would happen to him.

He is NOT a leader.

He has fought POTUS DJT on everything.

He said he wanted Hillary to win because it would be easier for him to lead from behind.

Why is it Congress has leaders such as:
Hastert
Bohner
McMconnel
Ryan

All with liberty scores below the F range? Equal to McCain. Or secret backgrounds, like Hastert? Or hardcore leftists wives that give money to clinton, like Ryan?

Ryan is an emasculated girl. Leading from behind.

Nobody will ever accuse Ryan for NOT being a RINO opportunist.
Though Congress could have “fixed” ObamaCare from day one, it took a LEADER to make it happen. That is what President Trump has done and will do FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, something RINOs like Ryan and Old McDonald refuse to do.

Ryan is not trying to take credit for anything. Trump is accepting the ruling of the federal court and ending the USG's appeal of it. The payments by Obama were unconstitutional.

The House passed a bill ending most of Obamacare. The Senate is the real roadblock.

Since Ocare originated in the Senate, the law is unconstitutional.

I remember that from way back, but it was never persued.

Why all the angst?

Insurance companies price ObamaCare policies about 15-20% below actual cost because if they priced ObamaCare policies at the true market cost very few people could even afford them.

The government covers the completely uncontrolled losses to the insurance companies to make sure they turn a profit by stealing investor dividend money from Fannie May and Freddie Mac

“this is a good thing, no ?”

Understand your confusion. This is the first time in living memory that Ryan has actually SUPPORTED something done by the President.

...but, yes, it is good. It throws EVERYTHING back to Congress to start working to fix or (hopefully) to end this crap.

No average family can afford even the 15-20% below actual cost policies without the (heavy) individual subsidies. So, what you are really saying is that the gov’t through its policies of the last 40 years or so has aided in driving up health CARE costs, on average, to 300% or more (my estimate) of what average people can afford. (I estimate 25 to 50 % are $$ siphoned off by the insurance companies).

This can be chipped away at the edges, but to fix it? I had no good options* as it was, and I see literally see no good options* for me as an individual in my remaining likely years on Earth.

*Well, I can try to eat right and pray for continued good health. But, if that fails...

It is. Don’t understand the
Comments here

...

A lot of people around here justifiably despise Ryan. Combine that with all the people who only read the headline and always assume the worst.

"bb b but MILLIONS of innocent children will LOSE their god given RIGHT to “affordable” healthcare !!!!! dying people will be littering the streets"

I got a friendly letter from Blue Cross Blue Shield today. Didn't wanna open it, what now?

"Good news, they say, my plan is being offered next year." If I like my plan I don't have to do anything, they will auto enroll me.

They are doubling all my deductibles next year, by the way. "Be on the lookout for your 2018 rate letter soon!"

Seriously think about what you just posted and then ask this question;

Why, all of a sudden, does it appear that Ryan is trying to catch a handhold on the Trump Train?

Think,

Answer;
Because he knows his firewall is the Senate.

it is a good thing - I think a lot of the comments are aimed at the Congress that knew it was illegal and did nothing to stop Obama from doing it anyway - they may not have voted for Obama Care but they did keep paving the way and enabling it.

What’s your complaint? I despise Ryan (and McConnell), but it looks like he’s backing Trump’s decision here, no?

Because people here see Paul Ryan’s name and go into attack mode.

Yes, this is GOOD. Trump is acknowledging the CONSTITUTION, something Hussein the fascist refused to do for eight years.

No, the congress abdicated its power of the purse during the Obama administration.
