I suspect this will be headlines for days, especially b/c it involved police - with a TV and theater-release movie in the making.
It will be used as further fodder for BLM violence directed at police and whites.
Meanwhile...

What difference, at this point, does it make?IIRC, there is no Statute of Limitations on murder:
In criminal cases, the public prosecutor must lay charges within a time limit which varies by jurisdiction and varies based on the nature of the charge; in many jurisdictions, there is no statute of limitations for murder.

A question of justice for all.
At one time, killing a black man was okay. That led to blacks wanting to kill whites.
No statue of limitations on murder.
