The senior Trump campaign official who brought George Papadopoulos onto the Trump campaign met last week with Special Counsel Robert Muellers prosecutors and testified before a federal grand jury, NBC news is reporting.
Sam Clovis, the campaigns co-chairman and top policy adviser, brought Papadopoulos onto the campaigns foreign policy team last March, The Daily Caller was told on Monday.
Interactions between Clovis and Papadopoulos, a 30-year-old energy consultant, became a subject of intrigue on Monday after a federal court unsealed documents showing that Papadopoulos accepted a plea deal earlier this month for lying to the FBI about his interactions with three people who claimed to have links to the Russian government.
Papadopoulos email exchanges with Clovis, a former conservative radio host, feature prominently in a statement of offense submitted by Muellers prosecutors in the case.

Not.
The media (and the RATS they support) are totally desperate. Mueller is trying to buy/flip ANYONE he can.
Zero Evidence
You wonder if Mueller or one of his legal thugs might have suggested that it would be a shame if one of Mr. Clovis’s children had an accident.
I think the point is that he was a Podesta mole.
Here's a guess: we will soon find out that a fair chunk of money that Hillary and the DNC paid Fusion GPS for the Trump dossier ended up in the pockets of one George Papadopoulos. He wasn't being paid by the Trump campaign, and London is an expensive city, just saying....
TRUMP did not collude with the Russians! It was all a made up excuse to explain Hillary's loss!
The sinister duo of Mueller and Weismann are using a grand jury of Trump hating BLM mental midgets to do whatever they want them to.
FIRE MUELLER, Rosenstein and Sessions!!!
Jeff Sessions, WHERE ARE YOU?
POS!
The sh!tlibs are all as certain that Trump "colluded" with Russia as they were certain that Hillary would be president. And how did that work out for them? If you think they're crazed now, just wait a few weeks when all of this Russian collusion nonsense comes back and bites them in the a$$. It will be glorious.
Yep. Does congress have any say in this charade?
I guess since West Point had a Cadet graduate as a ISIS supporting LT, who by the way was radicalized by a Muslim instructor who was hired by the PC Obama Directive for WP to hire Muslims as Instructors, the Mueller team must think that Clovis, an Air Force Academy grad, and former fighter pilot is sympathetic to the Russians.
What logic are these guys working under???
Clovis? That fat tub of lard? Frankly, I wouldn’t let the guy get within ten yards of the President.
Their goal is the destruction of the Constitution and Judeo Christian Western Civilization by any means necessary and to then install themselves as totalitarian dictators.
Agreed. Thankfully, he withdrew his nomination as Secretary of Agriculture.
That's the kind of attitude that got Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst! Whose senate primary and general election campaigns, in so far as I could tell, consisted of being "Iowa nice." Sam is brilliant, hard working, a solid and knowledgeable conservative and his mind is even more impressive in person. He'd have made a great senator whereas Joni so far is a back bencher. I expect her to go RINO once Chuck Grassley's guidance is gone. Sam's hiring by Trump was the first thing that impressed me about Trump. And, alas, Sam looks like a fat toad.
Sam didn't always look like this. He was a pretty good high school athlete, and an excellent fighter pilot with the typical fighter pilot build back in the day. IIRC his fighter pilot career ended after a bad crash. I don't now recall all the details, but during his senate run I saw a detailed account. It wasn't pilot failure, but pilot miracle that resulted in his survival. However he suffered multiple compression fractures and lost multiple inches of height as a result. Although I've never seen nor heard of him using the excuse, I presume that back injury explains his shocking physical transformation. I don't hold his current build against him, absent any concerns as to whether he was physically up to doing the job for which he was applying. Which his campaign schedule positively demonstrated.
Now I do question why he was offered the Agriculture department post (not the Secretary, but a technical mid level position.) He has a great CV, but I don't recall technical Agricultural experience on it. There must be more suitable positions available for Sam. Sometimes I think national level political types think anyone who happens to be from Iowa can do any Agricultural task and chooses them just on that basis. This Iowan is three generations removed from any such skills! Offering Sam Clovis the Ag position feels like a swamp move to divert a MAGA Trump loyalist.
Thanks for the clarification on Sam Clovis.
