At least 16 people have been shot inside a Texas church after a gunman opened fire during the Sunday morning service.

The shooting happened at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, where around 50 people usually attend service, according to local reports.

Witnesses said a man 'in full gear' walked inside the church and opened fire just before 10.30am.

Neighbors in the area said they may have heard the shooter reload multiple times.

Another witness at the scene said a two-year-old was also shot in the attack.

According to KSAT, there were at least six helicopters called in to transport victims to the hospital.

It's unclear if anyone was fatally wounded in the attack.

I’m guessing domestic situation. Legal gun owner.

“...94.40% of people are White, 0.00% are Black, 0.00% are Asian, 1.09% are Native American, and 0.00% claim ‘Other’...”

And four and a half percent are pod people or what? We have a gap there.

Yep, and of course none of this has anything to do with guns — Las Vegas, Dallas, Orlando. It’s about a society made sick and violent by Leftists who want to destroy America.

I live a couple of miles from there as the crow flies. Sirens were heading that direction off and on for over 1/2 an hour.

The current social environment is bringing the kooks out of the woodwork.

My theory is that all the political hate you see everywhere is inclining the mentally ill to act out violently.

That feeling when you’re inside the church, the guy starts shooting, and you realize your hand gun is in the car.

Dallas was a left-wing terrorist attack.

Orlando was an Islamist terrorist attack.

Vegas: we don't know yet what really happened.

This case: Who knows? A kook? ISIS?

My brother was on the pastoral search committee at his church. Candidates stance on gun control was a key point.

If he was in favor, the interview process halted immediately.

Sadly, I live in a criminal empowerment zone (People’s Republic of Maryland) Carrying anywhere, let alone church is forbidden (except the criminals)

My son recently took the class for Handgun Qualification license, a couple background checks and fingerprints (All necessary to earn the government issued privilege of simply purchasing a handgun.) We went to check out some handguns yesterday and he bought one. In addition to all the other infringements, he has to wait for a seven day waiting period, as if all the other crap wasn’t enough.

One of the elders at my church was trying to see what would be needed to arm a couple members. I think he got shot down.

It’s something I worry about.

Oh wow...what an eerie feeling.

Are you hearing anything locally? It seems he was the only gunman.

I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry Stainless .45 in an old Uncle Mike’s special carry fanny pack worn as a tummy pack. It looks from a distance like... without any shadow of a Doubting Thomas... that I’m packing with that black fanny pack. But nobody seems to mind in Church or anywhere else.

I remember something similar happening in either Hallsville or Longview about 38 years ago.

Right now it’s kind of quiet. Not a whole lot is being said on the local news. I’m sure the authorities are trying to figure out everything before they say much.
