California increases cooperation with China to tackle climate change

Governor Jerry Brown has announced plans to further California’s cooperation with the European Union and China on fighting climate change.

California and the EU will begin hosting regular meetings, also working with China, on improving carbon markets, which aim to reduce pollution by putting a price on carbon emissions.

The enhanced collaboration, announced after Brown addressed the European Parliament in Brussels on Tuesday, underscores Brown’s emergence as one of the United States’ leading voices on international climate policy even as the federal government recedes.

His nearly two-week trip to Europe will end at the United Nation’s climate conference in Bonn, Germany, where the international Paris accord to reduce carbon emissions will be a key topic of conversation.

The enhanced collaboration with the EU and China will focus on designing and implementing better carbon markets. China is working to create its own, while the EU operates the largest carbon market in the world. California, meanwhile, operates a carbon market in partnership with the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Ontario.

Can states enter into treaties or treaty like arrangements in lieu of the federal government? Seems to me they constitutionally can’t, not that the constitution ever stopped CA (Crazy America).

Arrest Brown and charge him.

This is in contrast to the constitution of the US.

Either he stops or they can vote to leave the union.

If I were Trump, I would seize all assets of CA and turn it back into a territory.

With all due respect, and I’m not fond of what California’s doing under Jerry Brown, having California be separated from the Union is going to just be stupid and pointless. A lot of the liberals/leftists in that area are not even from California in the first place, either having emigrated from other countries (Canada, Japan, Mexico/Central America, you name it), or are otherwise from separate states anyways (Jeffrey Katzenberg, for example, is a New Yorker). Even if you do get rid of California’s statehood somehow, the guys who originated from another state will simply move back to their states anyways, defeating the entire purpose.

We do need to really change up California to actually BE able to work with the United States and adhere to American principles rather than be subject to leftist ideology.

Husband was in China recently. Caught a cold on the plane over and suffered with their pollution in every city, not just Beijing. Also, at business meetings, the cigarette smoke was overwhelming. It took coming home to get rid of the cold. China caring about ‘climate change’??? Not gonna happen.

I doubt if anyone will ever be able to change up the ideals of the demented thinking of the liberals in CA. EVER.

Either the state of CA splits in half and one goes one way, or the whole place gets split from the Union.

I disagree with your assumption that they would leave the state after they ruin it totally. Those in Portland and Seattle-for example, will rush to their socialist utopia and finish off what they started.

And I have four neighbor who have left that S hole-their words not mine, and settled here. All of them conservative.

Matter of fact, I am surprised at how many Texans and Floridians are coming to AZ. Their excuse is that they have had enough of the storms and I dont blame them. Problem is, what about the water issue? If the good OL boys from this state dont start to capture water runoff from monsoon rains, we wont be able to sustain much more population growth. Studies indicate that 90% of that water simply evaporates. Dumb asses think that everything is just A OK. Typical of the Good Ol Boys.

Just like Gov. Brown. The last people the elected officals in this state care about is the tax payers. The environment, illegals, Trump hate, social justice, unions, bullet trains, normalizing sexual deviancy all come before good governance and serving the people that pay the bills. Its so crazy but getting good people to run and getting the tax payers to vote sensibly seems next to impossible.
