2018 Democrats win the House and improve their margin in the Senate to 49D, 51R due to Trump voters staying home in disgust over rigged primaries and failure of Congress to pass the Trump agenda.
If the Democrats capture the House Trump will be impeached. Then it goes to trial in the Senate. 2/3 of the Senate is required to convict. If Dems have 49 votes, they will need 18 Republicans votes. Likely there are 6-7 GOP Senators who hate Trump and would vote to convict him today if given the chance. That means another 11-12 are needed for conviction.
Senators voting to remove the POTUS in 2019 will be looking forward to the 2020 elections and listening to their big donors. In 2020, 22 of the 33 Senators up for reelection will be Republicans. If Trump is unpopular, the big donors want Trump out, and many of these Senators feel vulnerable it is possible 18 Republican Senators can be persuaded to vote to remove Trump.

Had the GOP any brains (and that is clearly in question) impeachment would be the rallying cry for the next election. Electing a democrat will mean impeachment for Trump. So the choice is clear: vote democrat and Trump is impeached. Then let the democrats deny it.
As if the GOPe really cares what happens to President Trump. After all, governing requires hard work. Being the opposition party, they retain all their perks without the work.

Are we governed by laws any longer? There seems to be “laws” for you and me, but anyone named Clinton is not subject to any law and is protected by Democrats and Republicans alike. My goodness, Clinton has a special protector named Mueller who is probably threatening anyone who even hints at investigating the Clintons or the Obama administration.
