I might agree for WW2 vets. I respect and thank all vets....but there hasn’t been a war fought to win since WW2. Wars are fought to fight them. Jeeze it took Obama to get get Bin Laden.

I’m good for that but I would want an alternative track for the intelligent and productive person who may have some kind of medical condition.

Those people could do X amount of some kind of non paid state guard or civil equivalent for a longer period then qualify.
