Savage has been complaining about bringing game African trophies back to the U.S. for the last two days. Don’t African countries regulate their big game hunting? So in principle I see nothing wrong with it. Bunny huggers seem to have a problem with it. They seem to think all of Africa cannot be trusted with their own affairs.

You trust Zimbabwe to run its own affairs and see that elephants aren’t decimated even further? I don’t trust them at all!

Indeed it is. Look at the social/economical condition and stark difference of the African continent countries v/s rest of the world.

Well, even if they are correct about that (and they probably are), the USA is not the colonial administrator in charge of looking out for the Africans.

1808 was a long time ago.

Very much so and depending of the species, the permits are VERY expensive.........

It should be noted that these are poor countries and without the income from the heavily regulated hunts, they wouldn't be able to afford the soldiers whose sole job is to control poaching.

While I am totally opposed to trophy hunting, I'm not naive' enough to believe that it is not necessary for the preservation of these animals.....

Elephants are poached for their ivory, maybe a working solution would be to hunt down the tuskers and tranquilize them and cut off the tusks before the poachers get to them and kill them.
