Virginia is my plannes retirement state. South Carolina is my back up plan.

Is Virginia still a good state for conservatives to retire to, or has it gone completely from purple to blue? Looking for guidance here.

I plan to retire to Virginia Beach. I like Blacksburg but just hate the svow, so coastal Virginia like Virginia Beach or Williamsburg is my current plan?

Are conservatives fleeing Virginia? Or is it stillsafe to come to Virginia. Idont want to get all settled in just to have the Virginia legislature pass a host of liberal laws.

The Blue Line now goes through Loudoun and Prince William Counties. Back in the mid-90s, it was still only halfway into Fairfax County.

If you’re planning on the I-81 Corridor, the farther south you are, the happier you will be. The I-95 corridor from DC to Richmond is purple, overall, these days. . . .

The writing is on the wall. It’ll be like Cali, which was a pretty OK place outside of LA and SF 30 years ago. It’ll take 20 plus years for it to go full loon, but the trend isn’t your friend with massive immigration and the beltway area.

Another thing to consider is that tidewater VA is relatively expensive. Frankly if you want beach, you should check out the gulf coast.

Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing.

Your plan A ain’t looking so good.
If the dems have their way plenty of republicans will be gerrymanded out of office in the next election.

The wrong kinds of democrats (as if there were any other kind) are being elected.
Hurst, whose fiance was the tv reporter shot while on location in Roanoke, defeated the incumbent Yost.*
A tranny beat a longtime conservative incumbent, the illegals have been invading for two decades, we have a pretty high muslim population.
Our incoming governor vowed to take down the monuments on Monument Avenue in Richmond.
*I look for sustained assaults on our Second Amendment rights soon.

I hate to say it but look more closely at plan B and develop plans C and D.

I am retired, my kids are grown and my wife has passed.
The only thing keeping me here is my mom. We are very close so I will stick with her till the end.
After that I’ll probably move on.

This ain’t the Old Dominion I knew.

Is Virginia still a good state for conservatives to retire to////

I have to concur with the other Virginians on this thread.

In past elections, it was not unusual to see alternating party governors. But this is the first time in memory that the gov, lt gov, and AG all went democrat in 2 succeeding elections. Couple that with the massive gop losses in the house make it clear that VA has turned to the left.

Guys like Dave Brat might hold on for awhile but he’ll probably be gerrymandered out after 2020. Best you can hope for in the future is a RINO gov like they have in MD or MA.

Wife and I have a big house and acreage and need to make one more move. SC or the “red neck” Riviera are looking good now.

I was stationed here in 1992 and have since remained after my retirement. My wife can retire in two years and we are leaving.

Virginia is still a decent place to retire if you stay out of the liberal areas, and your intention of moving to Virginia Beach places you is a hotbed of leftism. I have always loved Virginia because it was very conservative even when run by Democrats but that is now changing. If we lose the House of Delegates then the only thing stopping our Second Amendment rights from being destroyed will be the Virginia Senate. Expect the current Va Attorney General, who is a Communist, to find ways to curb our rights. He was given tons of money from Bloomberg and Soros, who both are in collusion to fund and take over AG seats nation-wide.
