People in Alabama Knew Attacks on Roy Moore Were Coming, Writer Says

The Left was always going to come at Alabama Republican Roy Moore with everything they had, a conservative author told Laura Ingraham on Wednesday night.

Moore, a former Alabama Supreme Court chief justice and now Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, has been accused of having relations with a 14-year-old girl and assaulting a 17-year-old when he was in his early thirties, more than 30 years ago.

The charges have upended the race to replace Jeff Sessions. The special election is Dec. 12, and Moore faces liberal Democrat Doug Jones. The race has already distressed Alabama voters, writer Quin Hillyer said on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle" on Wednesday.

"I think there's a very large number of Alabamians who wish we had another choice right now," Hillyer said. "I would say certainly a plurality of Alabamians are unhappy that we face this uncertain and tawdry election when we haven't had time to get to the bottom of things. We don't know what the truth is. This is not a good situation."

Moore has firmly denied that he ever did anything improper with a 14-year-old, saying he never even met the accuser, and has also denied the allegation of sexual assault.

The race had otherwise been seen as a safe bet for Republicans, but some polls show Moore now losing. President Donald Trump has declined so far to call for Moore to step out of the race, possibly delaying the special election.

On Tuesday, Trump said "we don't need a liberal person in there," and noted the allegations have been "totally" denied by Moore.

Ingraham noted that Hillyer, a contributor to National Review and Yellowhammer News, supported Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) in the Republican primary. Moore easily defeated Brooks.

"The Republican voters in Alabama did choose Roy Moore," said Hillyer. "When they chose Roy Moore, they knew that the Left would be coming at him with everything they had ... Whether it was true or not, we knew it was coming."

Hillyer, a "NeverTrump" conservative, said Trump deserves the credit for the booming economy.

"Of course, I'm grateful that Hillary Clinton is not president," said Hillyer. "I never wanted her ... I still remain a critic of Trump personally. I think his tweets are not refreshing. I think they are horrendous. But you mentioned the economy and while I think it's foolish to give him all the credit for the good economy, it would also be absolutely unfair not to give him a significant amount of credit for the economy."

This smells to me like a private intel operation. After doing a "target analysis," the firm discovered Moore had dated some 17-18 year old girls, where no scandal was found beyond the age difference. But this gave the intel firm their target area.

By coming up with two lurid false allegations, the actual dates with the 17-18 year old girls are all conflated with the disgusting underage sex assault stories. I don't know about the 14 year old's story, but the supposed waitress's yearbook "evidence" is clearly false.

Look for a private intel firm like Fusion GPS or Black Cube (Weinstein's hit team that targeted his accusers with smears) somewhere in the background feeding (and probably paying) the original reportrs.

Mitch McConnell needs another democrap in the Senate so he has a better excuse for not accomplishing anything.

What a dolt. Has he ever even read the President's tweets? The vast majority of them are, "This is what we did today" and "We thank these people for their hard work!"

It sounds like Hillyer has fallen for the media characterization of Trump's tweets, which the media claims are full of racist rhetoric and baseless attacks on the media.

Yes, Trump does criticize the media, but it is well-deserved.

No, Trump has not tweeted anything racist.

I, for one, love the President's tweets. I can find out more from his tweets than from any MSM coverage of him.

——————————————————————————————Idiot. I look forward everyday to Trump’s tweets. Also, he posts his schedule for the day on my Facebook page.

Lefties lied to discredit the veritas videos and say therefore we should disregard the entire matter. But they won’t even address the yearbook

Past a brief early mention, the yearbook forgery has disappeared down the memory hole.

Why would Laura Ingraham give a platform to a Never-Trumper and allow him to give a backhand slap to Trump? I thought she was supposed to be a conservative.

The people in Alabama are not really all that torn, since the truth about the accusers is coming out.

Lets hope the majority of voters send a big middle finger to the DC Corruptocrats and the liars in the media and elect Roy Moore as Senator. The fake yearbook signature is all the evidence necessary to see the smear job done on him. BTW where now are UnGlorious AllDread and the old Redhead faker she rode in on? You know what to do Alabama.

That is so obviously “Ray” and not Roy. I wish someone with lots of money would offer a cash reward for the real “Ray” to come forward.

This girl and Allred should be Sued.

[Hilyer:] I still remain a critic of Trump personally. I think his tweets are not refreshing. I think they are horrendous.

Remember when WFB threatened to punch Gore Vidal in the nose? NR has been taken over by pusillanimous fools. Let's not use extreme and pointed language against leftists. We are ladies and gentlemen.

What kind of an idiot chooses his President on the basis of his tweets. Well, to be fair, a lot of folks voted for Trump because of the tenor of his tweets. Being plain spoken and telling it like it is used to be regarded as a positive character trait.

Great analysis, as usual. Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks!

I read here that her classmate named Ray is dead.

The only change I would make is that it isn’t the left that is coming after Moore, it’s McConnell and the Republican establishment. They’re just using the left to do their dirty work.

The yearbook was so obviously fake from the beginning, by having the date written twice, and the numbers “1977” being written differently. The pic you posted of the different colored ink leaves no doubt either. Then you have the part about what “D.A.” actually stood for. No wonder the media dropped any coverage, but it needs to be repeated over and over for those who may not know.

“Remember when WFB threatened to punch Gore Vidal in the nose?”

“NR has been taken over by pusillanimous fools. Let’s not use extreme and pointed language against leftists. We are ladies and gentlemen.”

So which is preferable, Bill Buckley’s pugnacity or NR’s pusillanimity?

Seems like less gentility and more confronting is the better strategy. It’s working for DJT.

Another possibility — The name might also be “Kay”. To me, the writing has something of a feminine look about it.

And you were dead on, as usual, so keep going with your gut.

On the 14 year old, she claims she gave him “her” phone number, but back then, kids didn’t have their own number. So we’d have to believe it was the family phone number, if one was given st all.

Then you’d have to believe she answered several calls without her family knowing, and was able to sneak off to his house that was 30 minutes away, more than once, again without her family ever knowing.

Then with all that happening, she never told anyone about it, at the time? That’s the biggest hole of all, if you ask me. Sounds more like a fantasy she had to be honest.
