Orville has done this before. As soon as he is safely back in Washington he’ll rejoin the swamp.

Orin Hatch has “served under” way too many Presidents.

So has McCain, but he doesn't talk this way. The fact that he chose to elevate Trump's position in this way was very nice, as it was unnecessary even if done subconsciously. Hatch on average has won re-election with over 60% of the vote throughout his long career. His seat is not in jeopardy if he chooses to run.

Wow! If he’s not on drugs, this is an amazing turn-around...

I had to read that title three times as well. Coming from one of the truly entrenched establishment types, it is amazing.

Think Romney will run in a primary against Hatch since Hatch appears to be boarding the Trump train? Would be interesting...

President Trump, making the decisions the eunuchs of congress have not been able to make.

The right decisions.

Hatch is a RINO, but he did a lot of good conservative legislation earlier in his career. What he meant is that with Trump, he knew exactly where Trump stood and what he wanted. Hatch may or may not have agreed with it, but he also knew that Trump was pretty determined to do it.

This has been absent since the time of Reagan.

<>Since when do Senators “serve under” a president?<>

Constitutionally, never.

Yet practically, since the 17th Amendment, popularly elected senators who want to be reelected had better take the pulse of the public’s regard for the guy who gets wall-to-wall media coverage.

Repeal the 17th. Article V.

Wow. OK I revise my earlier statement. There are 2 good conservative and decent Senators in the US Senate.

Orville is a RINO.

Nothing gets by you, Poirot. I'm impressed. Hatch has no reason to say this statement this way, picked up by Breitbart but it seems few else. He is a RINO, but he sounds sincere on this comment, and I'm talking about this comment only. He also is considered safe for his seat if he decides to run, so I'm saying you're opinion that he's doing this re-eclection is wrong.

Hatch is a RINO. Start having an IQ higher than a RINO and quit wasting my time.

Regardless of Hatch’s intentions, I’m glad he said these exact words. The words are important. They accurately illustrate what Trump is.

I was thinking about this yesterday to myself, and I was thinking that Trump is simply trying to run things like a business. Successful businesses require good and strong decision-makers. And strong decision-making is not at all a ubiquitous skill, even among businessmen. I work with/for one, and I suck at it myself. It’s a difficult skill.

So, I observe Trump, and he’s burning through all these people in the first year of his administration, something you never see from a President. Well, that’s because all other Presidents are politically calculating everything; Trump just says, “Well, you’re not going to work out. I’ve got no time for this. I’ve got to get somebody else who will.” Trust me, that’s more laudable in the big picture than “loyalty.” The big picture is the United States of America.

Trump sees the clear bullshit being pulled on Moore. Trump says, “I’m sticking with this guy. He’s going to be good. He’s getting character assassinated. I’m deciding right now not to throw him under the bus instead of letting polls and advisors decide for me.”

It’s to Hatch’s credit that he said something of substance about Trump, regardless of perceived intent.

Hatch supported the DSHEA keeping the pharmaceutical industries and the FDA from controlling the dietary supplements industry and allowing the people to retain control of their own health care decisions.

There-you don’t got him.

In 1976, in his first run for public office, Hatch was elected to the United States Senate, defeating Democrat Frank Moss, a three-term incumbent. Among other issues, Hatch criticized Moss's 18-year tenure in the Senate, saying "What do you call a Senator who's served in office for 18 years? You call him home." Hatch argued that many Senators, including Moss, had lost touch with their constituents. -- Wikipedia
