The woman approached President Emmanuel Macron on the street and asked him for help acquiring French citizenship papers, according to Morocco World News.
Macron acknowledged the womans situation, but replied that France cannot realistically help everyone who asks, nor is the nation obligated to do so. Likewise, France must put its own people first:
"In France, we will protect all people who are in the asylum [system] and who are not safe in their country. But we can not accommodate everyone who comes with working or student visas and who stay after. To be completely frank, you have to go back to your country. . .
If you are not in danger, you should go back to your country. You are not in danger in Morocco. I cannot give French papers to everyone who doesnt have them. How would I deal with the people who are already here and cant find a job?"
Although some may think Macron was needlessly harsh, he is strictly correct. France is fast becoming an economic basket-case, plagued with high debt and low growth. In fact, Frances debt-to-GDP ratio is among the highest in the Western world.

In the past he's commented on the problems with high immigrant birth rates overtaking France, and said he'd stop migrants from entering the country. Some hope for an otherwise hopeless country.
Don’t know how a man will act until he’s given the power to act.
I’ve learned that from the SC picks through the decades.
Now that he is President, Macron may have had his eyes opened to certain realities.
Could be.
But leftists are so indoctrinated by the time they are his age it’s a rarity.
Rare. Not impossible.
Bogus!
Suddenly, Macron is “Mr. Tough Guy” on immigration?
Political stunt!
Macron is better than Marine Le Pen would have been. She had way too many red flags despite a few key stances which sound good on paper.
(The younger niece, Marion Marechal Le-Pen is cool but she is taking a break from politics.)
Macron is surprising me nonetheless and I especially appreciate how well he treated Trump as his guest of honor on Bastille Day.
This does sound remarkably staged.
I thought the French were such purists about their language. It seems surprising that they would be less so about their country. Any FReepers have more insight on these issues?
Pres. Macron - “Like a Webster’s dictionary you’re Morocco bound, lady!”
Big question is was mamma/wife with him when this happened? hw may well have gotten a spanking when he got home.
He may be into that sort of thing.
