'Jeopardy!' winner charged with computer crimes at small Michigan college
Fox News ^ | December 6, 2017 | Tyler McCarthy

A former “Jeopardy!” winner and one-time record holder; has been charged with two felony counts after an investigation into alleged cyber crimes commited in the school she worked as a history professor. Stephanie Jass appeared in Lenawee County court, in southern Michigan, on Tuesday to face charges of unauthorized access to a computer in Adrian College, where she taught, and using it to commit a crime. According to The Daily Telegram, a local news outlet, the first charge alone carries with it a potential penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The former game show champ allegedly accessed email accounts of co-workers at Adrian College. Representatives for the college declined to say when Jass stopped working at the school. In 2012 she held the record for most consecutive wins by a woman on “Jeopardy!” after winning seven games in a row. She was dethroned by Julia Collins in 2014. Police allegedly started investigating Jass after staff members at the college complained. The charges were authorized after a forensic examination of the digital evidence determined there was cause. “Adrian College wants to sincerely thank the Michigan State Police and the Lenawee County Prosecutor’s Office for their thorough investigation and for ultimately bringing charges in this crime,” the college told the outlet in a statement. “Privacy rights are a fundamental principle of our American democracy, and Adrian College stands with those who protect these rights.”.

For every day in prison this woman is sentenced to, Hillary Clinton should get at least 3x that many.

I totally agree. I saw the story last night but didn’t understand what the alleged crime is. All they say is she accessed emails. Weird.

She would have been fine if she had worked at NSA, FBI, etc.

They should let contestants slap that arrogant Trebek. I saw this the other day and he was worse than his spoof on SNL. His attitude to the contestants after they miss is all “No, you IDIOTS. It was the CRIMEAN war. Jeez!”

I love watching Jeopardy (because I’m so damn good at it) but you are right about Trebek. Every time all three get the answer wrong, if you listen carefully enough you can hear “you moron” after Trebek gives the correct answer.

The best line in the SNL spoof was “Sean Connery” saying “You only know that because it’s on the card in front of you.”

“The answer is......20 Years.”

“What is the amount of time she’s going to prison, Alex.”

‘They aren’t capable of sin!’

if the TV commercials are to be believed, they aren’t capable of not only sin, but lying, or acting childishly, or in any way shape or form of committing even the slightest of judgmental errors...

Journalists. Can’t get a simple thing like a headline right. The first part of the headline was about her being a Jeopardy winner. Then the first part of the story should have been about her being a Jeopardy winner. I had to read the entire story to get to the most important part..according to the headline.

Should have been something like “Woman Charged With Computer Crimes At Small Michigan College Was Once A Winner On Jeopardy”.
