North Korea: US naval blockade would be 'act of war'

As the rogue regime lashes out again, the Chinese and Russian Presidents warn of catastrophe if there is a military strike.

North Korea has warned the US would take a "dangerous and big step" towards nuclear war if it enforces a naval blockade.

It said it would take "merciless self-defensive" measures.

North Korea state media said the Trump administration was "pursuing a policy of military confrontation but this is nothing but a death-bed struggle by those alarmed by the might of the DPRK always emerging victorious".

"Should the United States and its followers try to enforce the naval blockade against our country, we will see it as an act of war and respond with merciless self-defensive counter-measures as we have warned repeatedly," said KCNA, citing a foreign ministry spokesman.

Although a blockade to enforce trade sanctions is not believed to be imminent, after North Korea's November rocket test US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said it was a possibility.

White House National Security adviser HR McMaster said in September however, that even 'non-strike' options carried the risk of military escalation.

I wonder what the reaction in the North would be if DJT were to publicly advise the South Korean government to evacuate Seoul and other cities and towns near the border.

“merciless self-defensive” measures

Would that be, like, halving the bark rations?

Seriously, what would they do about it? I could see an Operation Praying Mantis II if they even tried anything. Goodbye NORK Navy.

Threatening a nuclear attack is an act of war too.

Someone should have put a bullet in this fat psychopath’s head within a month of his having taken power.

Sounds like he is begging for a pre-emptive strike of the .338 Lapua variety.

Interetsing. Yeah I wonder about the reaction in the US Congress? Other than launch a few tweets Trump has not laid the groundwork to prepare the country and the world for any serious action on NK.

While N. Koreans use every means to create maximum chaos in the South, they will also panic. For the first time in many decades, they will face the real war they have endlessly threatened over the years. The belligerent talk so far kept their enemies away. Now they are forced to back up their talk with real action, which has not been what they really prepared to do.

Would they really unleash all WMD assets and face imminent catastrophic retaliation which will turn their entire county into smoldering ruins (or even glass parking lot?) Or would they choke and fold in an anticlimactic fashion?

We’re already at war (still). Doesn’t firing ballistic missiles into or over the territory of one of our allies constitute an act of war? How about threatening to nuke us? If anything, NK has violated the armistice and we should already be in a hot war with them again.

That is the question that must be answered. I’m sure they will unleash their conventional artillery, rockets, and missiles at Seoul and the northern portion of South Korea, but that’s largely the extent of their capabilities. The rest of their military would be destroyed in a matter of days if it came to that. It would kinda be like Desert Storm with hundreds of thousands of surrenders or those unwilling to fight. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Technically speaking, the Norks are right. Blockades are an act of war. It’s one reason Kennedy used the term ‘qurarintine’ during the Cuban missile crisis.

I’m reading ‘American Caesar’. It’s about Douglas MacArthur. Preparations were very much underway for war vs. Japan that arrived 4-6 months before their prediction. One stupid mistake after another. I don’t think Trump will let it happen here. We will have to let fat boy pull the first move. The result will be a message directed to the rest our enemies. Will our reaction be ‘slow’ enough to send a separate message to our friends?
