I wonder what the reaction in the North would be if DJT were to publicly advise the South Korean government to evacuate Seoul and other cities and towns near the border.

“merciless self-defensive” measures
Would that be, like, halving the bark rations?

Seriously, what would they do about it? I could see an Operation Praying Mantis II if they even tried anything. Goodbye NORK Navy.

Threatening a nuclear attack is an act of war too.

We’re already at war (still). Doesn’t firing ballistic missiles into or over the territory of one of our allies constitute an act of war? How about threatening to nuke us? If anything, NK has violated the armistice and we should already be in a hot war with them again.

Technically speaking, the Norks are right. Blockades are an act of war. Its one reason Kennedy used the term qurarintine during the Cuban missile crisis.

Perhaps I missed it; has North Korea done anything past the ceasefire they signed more than 50 years ago? Because, you know, that pesky state of war existing and stuff, not sure it would really much matter if there were a ring of ships and an embargo going on - if they shot at the ships, they’d be breaking the same ceasefire agreement they’ve broken 97 times.

A naval blockade is an act of war. If we are going there, we need to know that fact.

FWIW, except for a quarantine, I imagine any other naval blockade to be an act of war.
I’m wondering if boarding ships in search of drugs, weapons, war materiel is a naval blockade, though.
