ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - The elder son of former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin was in jail on Sunday facing assault and burglary charges in her home state of Alaska.

Track Palin, 28, appeared in state court in Palmer, Alaska, earlier in the day on a felony burglary charge and misdemeanour assault and criminal mischief charges, court records showed. The records indicated all the charges involved domestic violence.

It is not clear whether he entered a plea to the charges.

His legal troubles have prompted his mother in the past to question the support available for military veterans like him who may be suffering from post-traumatic stress.

After his arrest on Saturday, he remained in custody at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer on Sunday afternoon, Megan Edge, a spokeswoman for the Alaska Department of Corrections, said by phone.

Unlawful entry (no consent) that violates an NCO is charged as a burglary. Third violation of an NCO is a felony in my state.

Track stays in trouble, year after year. I hope he gets the help he needs if he’s still suffering from PTSD.
For some people, a few arrests a year is common, and just the way they have always lived. Maybe Track was having problems long before he ever enlisted. I don’t hear about Sarah’s other children being involved in such a long string of conflict. I don’t hear about it, anyway.

I hear nothing at all about Todd Palin since that terrible snowmobie accident. Not sure what his day to day existence is like.

Yes. Praying he can get the help he needs.

And, prayers for the entire Palin family, at this difficult time.

” . . . son of POLITICIAN(?) Sarah Palin[?] . . ..”

What? Why slander her in the title of the article? How about “former Governor Palin?” or “Former Vice-Presidential Candidate Palin?” Politician? Really? Accurate, but biased.

"...Burglary is breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony crime".

Burglary can be charged as either a misdemeanor or a felony.

Probably burglarizing his old house or wife/ex-wife’s house, or someone related to her.

Or attempting to get some of his clothes or possessions that were left there.

For what it’s worth, when Sarah Palin cleaned up the political mess in Alaska (known as the Corrupt Bastards Club) she earned their unending hatred, and the politicians took it out on her and her whole family.

Track has had problems, but I suspect that whenever he runs into trouble like this, he is still suffering from political vengeance.

Why would her son be that far from morality? We aren’t even talking substance abuse or dui but burglarizing? How trashy when his mom is well off and famous? I’d never humiliate my parents that way. A shame.

You need to wait until you hear the whole story before you pass pious judgement.

Probably because politician is synonymous with sleazy which is how they feel about her.

I think that he's pulling his chain.

After WWII my dad and uncles, all army or marines, used to give one of my aunts husband-who was navy-a bunch of good natured chit when someone would ask if him if he'd been in the service. My dad or an uncle would always jump in and answer "No, he was in the navy".

Went on until they l died.
