The FBI said in documents released Friday that Deputy Director Andrew McCabe did not have any role in the probe into Hillary Clinton's private email server while his wife ran as a Democrat for state office in Virginia.
The documents note that Jill McCabe announced her candidacy for state Senate in Virginia in March 2015, while Andrew McCabe's role as deputy director started in February 2016, three months after his wife lost her electoral bid.
Andrew McCabe had asked ethics officials if his wife's candidacy would lead to a potential conflict of interest while he was working as an assistant director at the FBI Field Office in Washington, D.C., the documents show.
“From the first contemplation that his wife would run for office in Virginia, [McCabe] sought out and consulted with ethics officers, which included briefings on the Hatch Act,” the records state.
A "system of recusal" was also put in place to prevent any potential conflicts of interests, according to the documents.
The release of the documents comes after President Trump and other Republicans have claimed McCabe had a conflict of interest due to his wife's electoral bid, noting that her campaign was supported by a super-PAC associated to Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), a Clinton ally.

So far it seems like the fish is mostly rotten at the head. I haven’t seen anything YET to indicate lower level FBI people are corrupt. They may be but like I said; so far I haven’t seen it. They may be even more disgusted with their leadership than we are because it does make them look bad too.
Yes, I think that the lower down the level FBI people are okay; however, there are far too damned many corrupt, disgusting far lefty, anti-Trumpers in top positions there. There are an over abundance of people at the top and they all need to be FIRED...right now!

His wife got $700,000 for a STATE office, not even for a National office.....WHY ELSE was she given all this money but as a BRIBE?

The docs were released yesterday. I wonder when the docs were written; I think it matters. Was the investigation done long ago and docs prepared then, or within the last 12-18 months in an attempt to sanitize McCabe? I didn’t see dates in the article.
He knows he did wrong. He couldn’t resign fast enough when he learned the current investigation was being done in earnest.
It just made Sessions’ recusal more stupid.

There are at least two things wrong with this cover. A spouse running for office is one thing, but how about when the spouse accepts $700,000 from a political party? Did McCabe report this windfall on his ethics reporting forms? Was the windfall factored into the ethics analysis? And most importantly, are we to believe that in-house lessers gave an objective opinion to a guy who is being groomed to be the next FBI deputy director. Did anyone do an ethics analysis on McCabe after he assumed the deputy directors post, but before he undertook the “investigation” of Hitlery as deputy director. He was still carrying the same same baggage as before.

Looks like the dems on the committee leaked this as proof that McCabe sought ethics advice re his Hillary e mail and Trump Russia collusion involvement.He did no such thing.He approached the ethics office in March 2015 well before the FBI started the Hillary e mail investigation in 2016 or Trump announced run for Presidency. They gave him general guideline that he would need to recuse himself from cases involving northern Virginia because of McAuliffe contributing money to wife’s campaign such guidelines to be reviewed in Nov 2015 when her race was over.
He was then promoted to Counterintel in the Washington HQ office and in 2016 the Clinton e mail and Trump collusion investigations were opened. Seems the guidelines were never reviewed re his Clinton and Trump involvement and he never approached ethics about his conflict in the Clinton and Trump investigations in 2016 but is trying to use this 2015 document to make it look like ethics cleared him for 2016 investigations that were not even launched at the time nor did he ever raise the potential Clinton and Trump investigation conflict with the ethics office or did the ethics office ever pass on it. Basically this document confirms that McCabe never did seek clearance from ethics on his Clinton and Trump investigation involvement in 2016. Dems should have read it before they leaked it
