Look, I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so — on Sept. 27 of last year.
That’s when I wrote these words: “If any figure in the United States bears watching over the next couple of years as our political culture continues the radical transformation that led to the election of Donald Trump, it’s Oprah. I believe she’s uniquely positioned, should she wish to commit herself, to seek the Democratic nomination for president and challenge Trump in 2020.”
I think Oprah Winfrey made it clear on Sunday night at the Golden Globes that, absent a change in the political weather, she is going to do this.
In a rhetorically dazzling 14-minute speech that began with Sidney Poitier inspiring her by winning an Oscar in 1963 and ended with her promising that “a new day is on the horizon,” Winfrey delivered exactly the kind of inspirational and aspirational speech Hillary Clinton tried but failed to deliver about 300 times during her deadly bid for the presidency.
My piece went viral after Oprah herself took to Twitter to say “thanks for your VOTE of confidence!”
The thing is, I was not advocating for her candidacy. I’d actually first floated the idea before the first vote was cast in the Republican caucuses and primary, as it was becoming increasingly clear that Donald Trump wasn’t going to be felled by any of the Republicans running against him.
“You know Oprah’s going to run in 2020 now,” I tweeted on Jan. 25, 2016.
Trump’s ascension seemed to suggest we’d entered a new political reality. Experience as an elected official had suddenly come to seem more of a liability than a necessary element of a presidential candidate’s resume — a mark of having been corrupted by politics itself.

Earlier this evening (Mon. 1/8) I heard Jesse Watters state that an Oprah representataive said she is not running.
He was subbing for Ingraham Angle if you wish to watch on Youtube.
There's the old interview video where she says that ALL old white people should die.
There's the 2 times ( once in Paris and once in Swizterland ) where she condemns white sales people of not just being "RACISTS", but also pulls the old "DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM" crap.
Then there are all of the shows she did with the Obamas; not good, nor is her later attempts to push herself into the Obama advisory team.
And lest anyone forget, she gave "free" cars to her audience, which she, herself did NOT buy, which she also did NOT pay taxes on, which left her "lucky" new car owners stuck with BIG bills, as well as TAXES!
And then....drumroll please....there's her connection with Harvey Weinstein and the new claims that she acted as a "pimp" for him, with young girls in both America and in the UK!
Her private life? hehehehehehehehe
Steadman has been her "beard" for many decades!
And then there is the whole lot of stuff re her hiring policies, when she was in Chicago!
OTOH...what will REALLY win over the black vote, is what she said about American blacks ( they are stupid and a waste of time to try to help ), when she opened her scandal plagued school in South Africa!
Is she intelligent and does she know world history? Well, she used to believe that she was descended from Zulu slaves. WRONG...she isn't and the slave trade NEVER took any Zulus!
And there's more, much more, but the above should be enough for people who read my post to get a big laugh about her running for president and winning.

Everybody is ignoring the fact that there’s absolutely zero evidence she has any intention or desire to be president.
And it’ll be very easy to find pictures videos and articles showing what a lousy candidate she’d be, right now. Just imagine what a digging expedition would turn up! LOL

I totally agree with you. I don’t think she will run because there is too much stuff she has said and done that will come back and bite her in her behind.
I didn’t watch the globes or whatever they were but just seeing the clips on the news I couldn’t believe those women didn’t boo Oprah and Streep off the stage. They knew what Harvey Weinstein was doing to women and it looks like there is proof that Oprah helped him. Talk about mental instability, all of hollywood needs mental help.

I don’t see her wanting it bad enough to bother. She’ll fold the minute it gets too hot in the primaries. And I can’t see her inspiring anyone other than crazy cat ladies and the hard core left.
Maybe she is clearing the way for Michele Obama, as in, “Nah, shucks, not me, but there actually IS a powerful black woman we could all get behind.”

You’d believe quite the contrary, according the MSM. I hear Oprah would be a presidential candidate (along with the side smear against Trump as always) even on television here in France!
DNC - we need to find someone black (like Obama) and a woman (like Clinton), but Michelle said no. Where can we find someone with those great, inspiring, credentials...hmmmm?

Her brand could go down in flames. She won’t risk or sacrifice her image in the slightest. She has not enough passion for anything except that.

I still think Tom Hanks is going to be the celebrity presidential candidate. His Hollywood hero roles designed to groom us to think of him that way, and his becoming more vocal with his political views give me a gut feeling about it.
