Google’s New Fact-Check Feature Almost Exclusively Targets Conservative Sites
Daily Caller ^ | Jan 09, 2018 | Eric Lieberman

Posted on 01/10/2018 1:38:02 AM PST by Oshkalaboomboom

Google, the most powerful search engine in the world, is now displaying fact checks for conservative publications in its results. No prominent liberal site receives the same treatment.

And not only is Google’s fact-checking highly partisan — perhaps reflecting the sentiments of its leaders — it is also blatantly wrong, asserting sites made “claims” they demonstrably never made.

When searching for a media outlet that leans right, like The Daily Caller (TheDC), Google gives users details on the sidebar, including what topics the site typically writes about, as well as a section titled “Reviewed Claims.”

Vox, and other left-wing outlets and blogs like Gizmodo, are not given the same fact-check treatment. When searching their names, a “Topics they write about” section appears, but there are no “Reviewed Claims.” In fact, a review of mainstream outlets, as well as other outlets associated with liberal and conservative audiences, shows that only conservative sites feature the highly misleading, subjective analysis. Several conservative-leaning outlets like TheDC are “vetted,” while equally partisan sites like Vox, ThinkProgress, Slate, The Huffington Post, Daily Kos, Salon, Vice and Mother Jones are spared.

Occupy Democrats is apparently the only popular content provider from that end of the political spectrum with a fact-checking section.

Big name publications like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times are even given a column showcasing all of the awards they have earned over the years.

Earlier I posted about how Google treats Conservatives who work for their company. This is how they treat Conservatives who don't.

I you think about it they only go into target mode when they are not sure of themselves and their message.

That is why Hitlary had to rig the system, she knew she couldn't make it on her own chops.

So, even if it bugs the hell out of us, it is just another sign that they are losing.

Their fact-checkin’ machine would’ve broken already if the past week of MSM Wolfe-scat had been put to a trufey-ness test.

I don’t use Google. I haven’t used Google in a decade or more.

I will use other search engines like Duck Duck Go to find what I need.

I don’t care if it takes me longer to find what I want. I will not do anything to put a penny in the pocket of Google.

By the way I don’t use You Tube, Google Earth, or any Android device either.

If this company is going to be as biased as this I simply can’t in good conscience do business in anyway with this company.

I believe they would target conservative sites. When living inside the liberal bubble, conservatives represent threats and a way of life that is not natural for a lib.

This is actually another example of hypocrisy. The left purports Republicans to be the powerful rich just stomping all over the little guy. Google is a prime example of the powerful and rich. The conservative, which now includes the blue collar/middle class folks the dems threw out of their party, are the little folks the rich and powerful want to stomp out.

To Barrow a line from Maxwell Smart.
Google should use technology for niceness instead of evil.

America needs someone to “fact check” Google.

What about alternatives to Chrome? Mozilla Firefox is good, but they fired their CEO over anti-gay-marriage comments 4 years ago. Internet Exploder is trash.

And who is doing the “reviewing?”

Look into WaterFox or Pale Moon browsers, if you liked FireFox.

Dump Google.

I’ve been on Duck Duck for over a year now...it has never failed to find what I want, or need...and DD doesn’t TRACK you, nor is it polluted with ads.

IXquick is another good search engine that maintains privacy like Duck Duck go. It also doesn’t give you the “fact” checking.

They can soon add the Fake News Award to their showcase!

Another way to defeat google is to use VPN
Opera browser has this built in and also has iPhone app
But then you are giving opera your browsing and other internet
Activity.
Perhaps freerepublic could offer VPN to donors?

The Google "fact checkers". Cats, prostitutes, and fraud. Sounds like a solid gold operation.

Nationalize Google.

Well, from all appearances, it is already just an off-the-books arm of the CIA and other alphabet agencies.    /s

Fact check:

1. The woman (on the right) is the ex-wife and co-founder, not the prostitute.

2. The cat is the brains of the outfit.

what do you use instead of Google Earth? I stalked my kid while he was in the Corps. Not that he was in the pics (my sister is one at her house) but at least I got a sense of where he was when I knew where he was. Learned more geography during those deployments!
