WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump said Thursday that an FBI agent once involved in the special counsel’s Russia probe committed “treason,” and he called for Republican investigators in Congress to conclude their probes swiftly.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Trump, unprompted, labeled as “treason” a text message written by Peter Strzok, an agent at the Federal Bureau of Investigation who until late July was a top investigator on the special counsel’s team investigating whether Russia colluded with associates...

“The media is lost to us.....for sure. It’s dangerous on many levels.”

I’m sorry for the grammatical errors in my last post, but I feel very strongly about this issue, and I sometimes don’t adequately review my posts as I get wrapped up in the emotion of the topic.

Paraphrasing the iconic quote, ‘most people live lives of quiet desperation’. That doesn’t mean they are stupid, or less intellectual than the self-convinced progeny of elite universities (where I’ve squandered much of my life). What it means is that life is difficult, in the best of circumstances, and we all struggle to find happiness and meaning. In that context, most people do not have the time to substantively evaluate ‘the news’ and the political events occurring around them. The cynical and opportunist ‘elite’ take advantage of this ‘preoccupation of the masses’, and take it upon themselves to ‘inform’ them - with an incredible and unethical modicum of bias.

The world would be so much better off if honesty prevailed - but it absolutely doesn’t.

“There are other serious crimes for an official of the United States Government to actively interfere in an election or to actively promote the removal of a sitting president by promulgating false information received from a foreign power and it does start to smell of treason because you are also aiding that foreign power to achieve its objective of undermining our electoral process, weakening our institutions and causing the public to lose faith in their own country.”

I would say that I waging a war against the Constitution, through subversion of the rule of law falls within the statute of giving aid and comfort to our enemies, and can be reasonable considered to be a treasonous act. Anyone found guilty should find themselves swinging from a rope.

In other words, by foregoing justice, Trump will be able to (legally) spy, surveil, plant evidence, falsely swear to affidavits/warrants, manipulate public airwaves with push-programmed propaganda, etc, etc, etc. With that kind of government power at its disposal, the right should be able to control all facets of control for multiple generations.

That should not be the kind of government that any conservative wants. That would simply be a police state with an R instead of a D.

““This is the FBI we’re talking about—that is treason,” the president said.
“That is a treasonous act. What he tweeted to his lover is a treasonous act.”

Jeff is reading all this stuff just like we are and is fascinated with it. Very interesting he says. Spectator.

Hopefully they will be prosecuted for the crimes they committed. I doubt a charge of treason would hold up. I’m guessing that was Trump painting it at its worst, but would be satisfied just to see them humiliated and rendered impotent.

That's an eloquent and impassioned response, but unfortunately, a tad fanciful and not at all realistic given our current circumstances.

We live in a post-constitutional, full spectrum surveillance state. This isn't 1776 where patriots could organize with a modicum of privacy. 1984 was inevitable - the threat of the technological scientific state was recognized by civil libertarians and welcomed by aspiring tyrants.

FR is a great forum to conduct parlor room debates about good vs evil, self determination, fee will, etc ie the whole range of subjects covering government and philosophy. But what I am suggesting is to consider making a rational, hard choice.

We have the ability to seize upon the foundation so foolishly erected by the left. It's in our hands now - the Hag wasn't necessarily correct when she said they'd all hang. It is so much more critical than that. Establishing spying as legally mandated and sanctioned government activity (you know, national security and enemies, foreign & domestic) is the greatest mistake the uni-party ever made.

What I'm suggesting is for the right to step back, calm down, and recognize what it has been gifted. Don't piss it away on some quixotic quest of revenge and thereby risk electoral blow-back. Instead, force the opposition into the most extreme corners by compromising every center-left-right candidate that opposes MAGA.

The president calling this treason should lead Sessions, if he can be woken up, to order an investigation. And since this is an investigation of the DOJ/FBI, he should appoint an independent counsel. Hey, Christie? He’s recently out of work. Or, heck, anyone who isn’t presently employed at the DOJ/FBI.

Notice that Huma cancelled her divorce with her odious husband today. Spouses cannot be forced to testify against each other, and this is the reason for it. She doesn’t want Weiner to be compelled to reveal anything about the Hillary Clinton/State Department emails that ended up on his laptop.

That would simply be a police state with an R instead of a D.

Do you concede that we already live in a post-constitutional, full-spectrum surveillance state? If not, then can you explain why thousands of private citizens, and then a presidential candidate, were openly spied upon, with multiple dozens of government employees privy to their private record & communications?

If yes, then the next question is very easy: would you prefer to live in a police state that enforced AA, PC, open borders, muslim infiltration, IRS harassment, etc OR one that protected private property, the 1A with respect to not only speech, but association (religion, business service), used 4A surveillance against our opposition, encouraged domestic investment and job growth, etc?

Remember, you don't have the choice of deciding whether or not to live in a police state. You already do - the essential question is: who should be in charge?

Off to the parlor room you go. Have fun discussing the great issues of the day. OTOH, you could pay attention to what’s happening and perhaps, just maybe, get ahead of the curve.
