No. I spent many nights moonlighting to pay off my loans. There are also a significant number of loan forgiveness programs out there for those willing to work in underserved areas, or who can obtain entry into a military program. If they default, I think the universities should be stuck with the bill, not the banks.

Agreed. Get the Feds out of the school loan business, and then these schools will have to survive based on how good they are. Right now professors and schools are cashing in on these kids .
So when students moan about their loans, and how expensive it is then I suggest they go and protest their school who charge staggering fees, and protest their professors who are really making a lot of money.

Why is this even being discussed? One reason: To get votes. Screw you, politicians, quit giving away my tax dollars to deadbeats just so you can get reelected. Free cell phones for deadbeats, now loan forgiveness for wanna-be deadbeats. I’m so PO’ed I could scream!

FT employment? If people can pay off 400K dollar homes they can pay off their loans.

Also, I know someone who always is mouthing off snowflake comments on social media, still lives with mommy, full time college, part time job. okay but here’s the thing, they’ve been in junior college full time this will be their 4th year trying to get enough credits to transfer to a UNI to get a BS in nursing.
I keep thinking “maybe you’re just not cut out for this schooling thing and should get a job”
How many years, and loans and bills are you willing to run up to get a degree in a field that will most likely start you out 20K-30K under six figures?
Makes no sense.

Play the game right, you don’t need to come out of school laden with debt.

First step is to pursue a degree in something other than oppressed minority social justice warrior perpetual grievance faggotry studies ...

They should tell them to sue their schools for fraud.

Make the university or college responsible for paying off the loan if the student defaults.....result.....no more useless liberal farts degrees.

ROFL!!!

Maybe when Uncle Sam starts paying HIS damn debts, he'll have some moral authority to pontificate on the subject.

Six years of active military service plus six years of active reserve should wipe out four years of college debt. Otherwise, PAY UP!

Answer to your question - quit school, get a job, maybe two, pay off your loan yourself!

No one made you apply for your loan, no gun to your head.

Quit looking for someone to make your own bed, clean your own dishes, tie your shoes or wipe your bottom! Grow up!

The cold, harsh reality is that the Democrats are in a position to sweep an election anytime they choose, merely by promising to forgive student loans.

I have come to this conclusion by talking to many, many people under 40 who are under unbelievable student debt which prevents them from buying houses, cars, marrying or starting a family. I also know older parents who are on the hook for massive PLUS loans. Some of those have been voting Conservative for years, but tell me privately that they’d pull the trigger for anyone who could get them out from under the crushing loan debt.

Right and wrong aside, the simple fact of the matter is if the Democrats float a proposal to forgive these loans, scores of voters will be crawling over broken glass to go and vote for it. I’m convinced of that.

The only reason they didn’t pull the trigger in 2016 was they were all convinced that Hillary was going to win without it.

The better part of valor may be to beat the Dems to the punch and begin dealing with these loans. Because, right or wrong, sooner or later, it WILL get done at the ballot box eventually.

The only real long-term solution, is to make the schools co-signers of the loans. If the students don’t get good enough jobs to pay back the loans, the schools eat it.

This would also necessarily make the schools more selective of who they accept, and what majors they offer. Which would be labeled racist.
