I live in New Jersey, have all my life. In the late ‘60s and 70’s self-segregation started among predominately black schools and the liberals thought it was fine and dandy. They still do. This state spends gobs of money per student and most of the kids, especially blacks and Latinos are dumb as posts and the whole rotten public school system is nothing but a jobs and patronage mill for adults. Worse yet is the fact that NJ funds education through property tax. My wife and I are barely holding on to what we've got. It'll never change.

What’s up?

I wouldn’t quite say blacks “self-segregated”; they ended up in segregated schools because the towns themselves would end up mainly black. Busing doesn’t work (just damages a neighboring town); this will simply drive more “white flight” from NJ.
