Since Attorney General Jeff Sessions was confirmed to head the Department of Justice (DOJ) nearly one year ago, he has been making an impact in which the rule of law has more of a place than it ever did in the Obama DOJ under Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch.
Remedying abuses of power
Start with one of the most egregious exposed abuses of power in recent yearsthe IRSs targeting of conservative groups with names containing words such as tea party or patriots, which provoked two lawsuits seeking relief from the governments conduct. In October, Sessions announced a settlement with the 469 parties that had filed suit. He did not mince words in denouncing the agencys conduct, noting that without question our First Amendment prohibits the federal government from treating taxpayers differently based solely on their viewpoint or ideology. Theres no excuse for this conduct. The settlement, he added, would make clear that the abuse of power will not be tolerated.
Also pernicious was the Obama administrations practice of requiring settling parties to pay third-party organizations, many of them left-of-center, that were not involved in the underlying cases or harmed by the conduct of defendants. The practice closely resembled a DOJ-imposed slush fund for liberal interest groups. Sessions asserted, Nowhere does the Constitution grant unelected attorneys or political appointees the power to effectively appropriate and distribute funds based on their political alliances. DOJ put an end to third-party settlements in June.
Addressing illegal immigration and respecting Congress
The previous administrations disregard for the rule of law did not end there, and Sessions accordingly did not stop there. Having failed to secure passage of the DREAM Act, which would have legalized immigrants who had illegally crossed the border as minors, by the constitutionally prescribed legislative processpassage by the House and Senate prior...

Oh, Really? Then why is Loretta still walking around free?
Sorry—I’m not seeing the HUGE difference at DOJ??
They’re pantywaists as far as I can tell.
Incoming!
Make that, Why is Lois still free?
The IRS scheme that targeted Conservative groups was specifically to deny them funding that would have helped during the 2012 residential election. The fix was in, across ALL Fed Agencies. The Obama Admin was a dirty as the day is long, for 8 years. I will again feel the Rule of Law is important, only when these criminals start being prosecuted.
Why is McCabe still “leading” the FBI?
Why is the DoJ not being transparent and cooperative with The Congress?
The idiot that wrote this fawning bunch of BS is a typical NR etablishment loving propagandist. So Sessions is reestablishing the rule of law? I havent seen one person in DOJ fired or prosecuted. Not one clinton obama scandal has been investigated or prosecuted. This carrie woman is obviously some type of NR political hack to think that we are really stupid enough to believe this hogwash.
Lois Lerner (IRS) should already be financially ruined and in prison.
I am not one that beats up on Sessions, but I might become one.
For what he has accomplished (as listed), good, but so far his publicly known accomplishments might give rise to him receiving, at most, a Participation Award...
Sessions is neither stupid nor clueless to the ways of the Swamp, yet he set the whole special counsel thing in motion by walking away from the most important role of an Attorney General, which is to uphold the Constitution and protect the Republic. A coup was gathering steam at the time, and he chose to turn his back on it and leave the country and its duly elected president open to a clear and present danger. I'll never forgive Sessions for that no matter what else he does as AG.
All Sessions has done is ended the obvious, probably illegal partisan, Democrat-favoring abuses.
The structure and full budget remains in place, with few, if any changes, just waiting for the next, even more statist/leftist Democrat to come in.
14 months after FBI corruption and Presidential political meddling has started to be revealed, the only investigator and special prosecutor on the job is still Mueller, chasing Russian ghosts and trying to entrap anyone they can associated with Trump.
I even heard that the DOJ is RESISTING release of the Congressional House Intelligence Committee “memo.” Who the hell is in charge there?
Sessions is a F*****g JOKE.
Another example of how low the National Review has sunk.
DOJ is no different today than when Holder was running it, except Holder at least did something (mostly bad).
The corrupt Deep Staters are still in charge, and the liberal agenda prevails.
The only difference so far near as I can tell was that arrests were actually being made albeit of the wrong people.
“I will again feel the Rule of Law is important, only when these criminals are indicted, tried, convicted and sentenced to life terms in a SuperMax!”
There, I fixed it.
Theres no excuse for this conduct.
So who did you fire, Jeffy?

I just read the following by Qanon which absolutely blew me away - a must read:
Exactly. It’s not good enough to *not* be an organized crime syndicate like the past administration. Amends must be made, people need to lose their job and retirement benefits.
I haven’t joined the Hate Jeff Sessions Club ... yet ... but I am getting more and more impatient to see some high level criminals indicted.
And Lois has her testimony kept private while she adjusts her sunglasses and sips margaritas at our expense.
