Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticised a proposed bill that would make it illegal to describe Nazi death camps as Polish.
"I strongly oppose it. One cannot change history and the Holocaust cannot be denied," he said in a statement.

I think he’s wrong on that issue. Poland was invaded and Germany set up ruling it. It was Germany that put them there, not the Poles so to be fair it wasn’t a Polish death camp it was a German one. Would Mauthausen concentration camp be called an Austrian death camp?
None of the death camps were Polish. They were all located in Poland, but not a single one of them was run by or staffed by Poles. Poland was occupied by the Nazis at the time.
This is why Europe will never amount to much. Bickering about grievances of 70 years ago...90 years ago...150 years ago...hell even hundreds of years ago. And doing it when crazed moslems and Africans are pouring in buy the millions for freebees, rape, and tossing grenades in today’s world.
This is typical of European thinking.
Those were German death camps. It’s slander to call them Polish.
Bibi needs to rethink this statement.
It’s not like we don’t have people bickering about grievances that happened 150 and fifty tears ago, so does your comment apply to the U.S. also?
They were only “Polish” by location. They were Nazi death camps. And Poland is right about this.
Yes there were a certain percentage of Poles who collaborated and an even larger percentage who turned a blind eye to the atrocities, but they were not by definition Polish Camps
Yes.
Everybody knows where the camps were located. Bibi should ask himself where European Jews right now would feel safer, France or Germany or Poland? And get along with Poland instead of antagonizing them.
The Poles regard the term “Polish death camps” as a smear against their country. Notably, some of the earliest warnings about the Holocaust came from the Polish underground, with diplomat Jan Karski smuggled into Auschwitz so that he could speak to Churchill and FDR with the authority of a direct witness. After doing so, Karski was told by the U.S. State Department to keep quiet. In the Polish way, Karski instead gave public talks and wrote a best selling book about his experience.
There was no Poland during The Holocaust.
true to a certain degree - the best description might be a national socialist death camp
Bibi is not exactly a voice of moderation anyways. Bad messenger
Jan Karski taught me History :)
Every occupied country was as guilty.
No guards at the Death Camps were Polish, although there were plenty of Ukrainian guards.
The Nazis knew if they gave a Pole a rifle, they’d use it on Germans.
I’m with the Poles on this one. The camps were in Poland, but they weren’t “Polish”. The Poles fought their asses off when the Nazis invaded them and the Brits and French threw them under the bus. AND Nazis hated Slavs in general and thus viewed them (like pretty much everyone else) as inferior. You can’t lay Auschwitz and so on on the Poles.
And yet they used Slavic Ukrainians as guards at the camps.
As a staunch supporter of Netanyahu over the years, I am deeply disappointed in him on this one.
The fighting didn't end after September 1939. Poles took the fight elsewhere, to the skies over England, to Monte Casino, etc.
