Statement by President Donald J. Trump on the Senates Failure to Advance the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
Recently, when I addressed the 45th annual March for Life, I called on the Senate to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, important legislation that would protect our most vulnerable. It is disappointing that despite support from a bipartisan majority of U.S. Senators, this bill was blocked from further consideration. Scientific studies have demonstrated that babies in the womb feel pain at twenty weeks. The vote by the Senate rejects scientific fact and puts the United States out of the mainstream in the family of nations, in which only 7 out of 198 nations, including China and North Korea, allow elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. We must defend those who cannot defend themselves. I urge the Senate to reconsider its decision and pass legislation that will celebrate, cherish, and protect life.
Thumbs up for Trump on this! Thumbs down on the weasily Senators.
Well said Mr President! Thank you for being America’s champion! We stand with you!
I want to know the names of the Senators that voted against this measure. Who knows who they were?
But you know the next step is "painless" abortion.
Eternal vigilance please.
It is a sad indictment on our Senate that there are not 60 Godly men and women serving our nation. It is a sadder indictment on our voting age adults that we cannot send better citizens to the senate. We can change this in the primaries and the general election. MAGA! May God forgive us if we don’t.
When was the last time a mere citizen became a senator?I for one believe it has been some time. The money that is required to run successfully is in the millions and that comes from people who will then control the candidate.Repeal the 17th.
Disgraceful, ungodly, ghouls in that city will face a reckoning. I guess they get big money from the ghoul body harvester lobby. Woe unto them.
Everyone who voted against this bill should be drawn and quartered for crimes against humanity.
Yes. Absolutely.
Remember Biden's compliments on the Chinese policy on one-child?
Progressives have/had a goal of "fundamentally changing" America from its founding concept of Creator-endowed rights to life, liberty and property to one of government-restricted rights to life and liberty; and of a government right to "redistribute" the wages and property of one citizen in favor of another/others by self-appointed elites in government.
The Progressive effort described above has only been disrupted: that goal has not ended.
Progressives are unimpressed by arguments against pain in the unborn. They are impressed only by arguments which further their goals of "changing" America from its foundations to fit their own oppressive ideology.
And a lot of the money comes from people that don’t even live in the State they’re supposed to represent.
10/03/2017-6:03pm On passage Passed by recorded vote: 237 - 189 (Roll no. 549). (text: CR H7713-7715)
Action By: House of Representatives
Passed by the House, it is just another bill that will die in the Senate. The sixty vote requirement for passage should be done away with. It has no constitutional validity, only a Congressional one.
COLLINS, MURKOWSKI.
See that, after all we gripe about a country like France, after 12 weeks, they don’t have abortions. Abortion is abortion but I’m sure prohibiting them after so many weeks, lowers the rate some.
Thanks mdittmar. If by the end of his term he gets Roe v Wade amended out of "settled law", President Trump's face is going up on Mount Rushmore, if I have to haul my old, out-of-shape, acrophobic ass up there and carve it myself.
God bless Trump.
Shame on the 46 senators who voted this act down today. The blood of the babies will be on their hands
This is only one battle in a long war.
And this loss could be a blessing in disguise, as it leaves abortion on the table as one more issue to clobber the Dems with come November.
I don’t want to sound like too much of an optimist here.
But let’s face it, this is not something the government should have to deal with. The abortion issue would go away entirely if young people would just take responsibility for their conduct. Much like the drug war, this is ultimately about the decisions made by millions of individuals.
As for me, that’s a long, long time ago, but whenever I take stock of my life, I thank the Lord that I never got a girl “in trouble.” Promiscuity is just a bad way to live.
Pray for the younger generation to gain some wisdom on this point.
