Transgender people sue Alabama over driver's license policy

Three transgender people sued an Alabama state agency on Tuesday, alleging its policy requiring proof of gender surgery to change the gender indicator on driver’s licenses was discriminatory.

The lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union said the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s policy denied transgender people access to identification, and applicants were forced to release medical information to get driver’s licenses.

When I got my first license, I had to provide a birth certificate, which included my gender. It is not too much to ask for proof of gender change before changing it in the government records.

Is this complicated? If your Birth Certificate says you were Born a Male, so should your Driver’s License.

If it says you were born a Female, same thing.

There is no right to have a driver’s license..it is a privilege

Hardly. From all their past surgeries they will have doctors and ample proof to show. And the only need to show it once.

Traditionally, there is a difference between gender and sex. Gender does indicate masculine and feminine in many languages but when you are speaking of x y chromosome, you are speaking of sex. To use the term gender is to play into the hands of the critical theorists and postmodernists who seek to deconstruct everything and misuse or mislabel things to suit their agenda. It is all very orwellian. Check the OED on word usage. Fowler’s and the OED, the real OED, show gender as only a grammatical term.

Liberalism used to mean someone who was interested in liberty, not what it has come to mean now. Red being associated with conservatism is another. To be red used to mean yo were a communist. Homosexual, almost becoming a pejorative, is another.

Remember, be careful of your thoughts, for they become your words. Be careful of your words, for they become your actions. Be careful of your actions, for they become your character. Be careful of your character, for it becomes your destiny. When they can alter what you say they can alter what you think. It is sex, not gender that is indicated on a driver’s license.

I was looking through the Alabama Code trying to find if the requirement is to record sex or gender on the license. I haven't found that, but I did find this:

"Alabama Code Title 32. Motor Vehicles and Traffic § 32-6-4

(c)(1) Any male applicant who applies for a driver's license or a learner's license or a renewal of the license who is at least 18 years of age, but less than 26 years of age, shall be registered in compliance with the requirements of Section 3 of the Military Selective Service Act, 50 App. U.S.C.A. Sec. 453 , as amended."

So, if one is within the ages noted, if one is a transgender male (xx chromosomes)does one have to sign up for the draft, and if one is a transgender female (xy chromosomes) is one exempt? Based on one's own say so?

I would agree with your take on this.

When Reagan was president, blue was our color.

The Left got so paranoid about their communist leanings, that they flipped the colors to make them look true blue, and give us the red Russian color.

I've blasted the tactic ever since.

We should just take it back and put the blame on them for changing it in the first place.

Nowadays you can find plenty of swapped colors maps to depict what took place back then, but here's one in the original color scheme from that time.
