Devin Nunes May Summon Chief Justice To Testify On FISA Abuses
Daily Caller ^ | 2/8/2018 | Kevin Daley

Posted on 02/08/2018 6:04:06 PM PST by bitt

GOP Rep. Devin Nunes of Calif., chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, may invite Chief Justice John Roberts to testify before the panel on alleged FISA abuses.

Nunes told radio host and Republican wise man Hugh Hewitt Thursday that committee Republicans have entertained the idea, as Roberts appoints all FISA judges, but cautioned no decision has yet been made. Hewitt and Nunes discussed the idea in connection with the committee’s memo on the secret intelligence courts, which alleged the FBI sought authorization to surveil President Donald Trump’s campaign aides on the basis of political opposition research.

“Now the chief justice appoints the FISA judges,” Hewitt said. “Have you had a chance to chat with him or any of the FISA judges about what went on at the FISA court with regard to the [Carter] Page application?”

Nunes is a rockstar! We need him in a much higher position.Speaker of the House or a top aid to president Trump would be much better for him.

From the column:

There’s no mechanism for the chief justice to police the FISA court other than as part of the appellate review that the Supreme Court may exercise in cases arising from that court . . .

Interesting. Perhaps, being the FISA target, Carter Page has standing to appeal the four warrants.

Starting to faces & names together.

With a hubby at the SCOTUS, it makes you mind whirl thinking about the pillow talk and if everyone in the household has the same level of security clearance. The country could get snookered in the process.

That is what Andrew McCarthy, the NeverTrumper says. That Mulehead’s investigation is a Intel investigation, not a criminal investigation.

I don’t believe a word he says.

Mueller’s investigation is neither a criminal investigation - can’t be that, because he doesn’t have evidence of a crime to investigate - nor an intel investigation, which would inevitably report to the president.

And that only leaves one thing. A partisan witch hunt, backed by Democrats screaming that firing Mueller would produce a “constitutional crisis.”

Mary McCord speaks very highly of David Laufman who resigned today. I was digging a little more on this Mary McCord since she also resigned from the Dept of Justice. Check this little tidbit out, “She credits her husband, Sheldon “Shelly” Snook, with carrying the load. He’s also a lawyer and a former longtime administrative assistant for the U.S. District Court. He is now special assistant to the counselor for the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.”

As in Chief Justice John Roberts.

More about McCord, Kenneth Wainstein, the first NSD head, who made McCord his deputy chief in the sex offense and domestic violence section when he was the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, said McCord was always “a standout prosecutor.” Of course Kenneth Wainstein is a Never Trumper. So it wouldn’t be shocking if these birds flock together. https://www.nytimes.com/.../national-security-letter...

He signed a letter in August 2016 (with a large group of supposed “experts in national security” stating he would not vote for Trump and that he was not fit to be President. He was a George W Bush appointee.

Be sure to check the link above. Here’s a good list of traitors from the Deep State who outed themselves in
Aug 2016. Many of them are CFR members and globalists.

Hmmm..... I thought that the special counsel was appointed by the Department of Justice, not the Congress.

This is a BAD political move.

Nothing can be gained by it. Roberts would only testify (if he agreed, which is unlikely) that he knows nothing about individual FISA decisions.

No way he can know anything - why would a FISA judge talk to him about any case?

McCord is married to Sheldon Snook, who also worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. In fact, it was McCord who got her husband his job as administrative assistant and court liaison to the public and news media by recommending him to Judge Hogan. Snook also served as spokesman for the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. He currently works in a similar capacity for the U.S. Supreme Court.

MORE DETAIL**snip**

Snook toasted his wife, Mary McCord, as “one of the best lawyers that comes into this court” and thanked her for her support throughout. McCord has been a rising star in Washington’s U.S. attorney’s office, moving from appellate and child sex crimes prosecutions to become the office’s chief of all criminal prosecutions. This year, she joined the Justice Department as a top leader over national security prosecutions.

Hogan recalled agreeing to hire Snook after McCord, his former law clerk, suggested her husband for the job. “I thought, ‘Well . . . if you can recommend him after 12 years of marriage, that’s pretty good,’ ” Hogan joked.

Hewitt is a NeverTrump blowhard.

Isn't that great?

I enjoy listening to him from time to time, it's so much fun to listen to him being forced to say nice things about President Trump.

You can tell it grates on him.

I was looking for more on “Shelly” Snook, I found this. The rest of the story is behind the paywall. https://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-37348119.html

“The well-respected public face of Washington’s federal court is saying goodbye to his job of the past 12 years and leaving for a similar job at the Supreme Court.

Sheldon Snook, the longtime administrative assistant for the U.S. District Court and court liaison to the public and news media, was hailed at a farewell reception Thursday afternoon as a trusted confidante of dozens of judges and the linchpin in making the court’s high-profile trials open to the public. Among those on hand to praise his talents were numerous federal judges, court staff members, federal prosecutors, public defenders and reporters from several news organizations.”

Hmmm “LINCHPIN”. I am a little more worried about Chief Justice Roberts now.

Good old “Shelly” the LINCHPIN Snook. Justice Scalia would have loved Shelly and his wife Mary “nothing to see here in Benghazi” McCord. /sarc
