Iran accuses West of using lizards for nuclear spying

Adviser to Khamenei says aid collectors for Palestinians sought to deploy reptiles whose skin 'attracted atomic waves'

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The former chief-of-staff of Iran’s armed forces said Tuesday that Western spies had used lizards to “attract atomic waves” and spy on his country’s nuclear program.

It was the latest in a long line of incidents of Western countries, including Israel, being accused of deploying secret agents from the animal kingdom.

Hassan Firuzabadi, senior military adviser to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was responding to questions from local media on the recent arrest of environmentalists.

He said he did not know the details of the cases, but that the West had often used tourists, scientists and environmentalists to spy on Iran.

“Several years ago, some individuals came to Iran to collect aid for Palestine… We were suspicious of the route they chose,” he told the reformist ILNA news agency.

“In their possessions were a variety of reptile desert species like lizards, chameleons… We found out that their skin attracts atomic waves and that they were nuclear spies who wanted to find out where inside the Islamic Republic of Iran we have uranium mines and where we are engaged in atomic activities,” he said.

Firuzabadi said Western spy agencies had “failed every time.”

His comments came after news that a leading Iranian-Canadian environmentalist, Kavous Seyed Emami, had committed suicide in prison after he was arrested along with other members of his wildlife NGO last month.

Several spying allegations involving various creatures have been leveled against Israel over the past years.

In January 2016, Lebanese residents captured a griffon vulture wearing an Israeli tracking device, but released it upon realizing that the transmitter strapped to the bird was intended for scientific research rather than espionage.

Several months earlier, Hamas claimed to have caught a dolphin wearing Israeli spying equipment.

Twice in recent years, Turkish media has highlighted allegations that birds tagged with Israeli university tracking devices were on espionage missions.

In 2012, an eagle with an Israeli tag in Sudan was captured and alleged to be as a Mossad spy.

Two years earlier, an Egyptian official said Israel-controlled sharks may have been involved in a number of attacks on tourists in the Red Sea.

Not a bad idea.

LOL! Tom is probably dragging his feet in anticipation of his own set of wheels. And yes, they grow out of it to a certain extent, but that’s only because when they move out, other people are less tolerant of their drama than family, which has grown to expect it.

When you tell me of Sally, I see my own daughter. The situation was different but end result was predictable.

So. Erasing all that mentally, Happy Valentine’s Day!

It is my first husband’s birthday, and I never had a Valentine card, dinner or flower as long as I was married to him. HE was the drama queen in his mother’s family. (Since then, I don’t care. It’s just another day.)

True, it’s Valentine’s Day. DP and I don’t observe it, because we just had our wedding anniversary on Feb. 4. However, this year I gave him a card I’d made at the church ladies’ craft event. Inside, I wrote, “Happy Ash Wednesday! I hope you have a miserable day and a penitential Lent!”

LOL! I should wish that for my Catholic friend! ;o]

Oh, yes — Ash Wednesday it is. One year, many LONG years ago, my younger sister, then about 10, promised to give up watermelon for Lent. In the middle of a cold Central Utah winter/spring. Somehow, I think she was successful!

Finally the US getting accused of the mideast classic conspiracy canards. I guess we've arrived. Israel has been accused of using several species of vultures, eagles, bee-eaters, kestrels, boars, pigs, hyenas, rats, dolphins, sharks and even strippers to distract their soldiers. Many threads here over the years. Lizards, that's a new one.

He is, indeed a good lad! I believe he also gave me the original “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” (I also have the book on that one.)

Yes, indeed. Satan whispers sweet nothings to them and they follow blindly, even including the animal kingdom in their evil scenarios.

Ya gotta love the blatant stupidity!

Tom has taken his gigantic whine out the door. *Aaaaah.*

“I’ve decided I don’t feel like going to Mass,” he said. “Fine,” I replied. “It’s not an obligation today. Your sisters can go to Mass, and you can lie in the parking lot and kick and cry.”

I will belatedly give up something else, but it will last longer than Lent!

At any rate, after several corrections, resulting in several printings (Scarecrow Syndrome) I finally got the letter printed and into the appropriate envelopes, including a cover letter that invokes my attorney. ;o]

All will go into the mail today (except for the one with the cover letter) and I will await a response. But I won’t hold my breath.

I also managed to change my insurance carrier with DMV, so I don’t need to go there physically and produce papers. YAY!

After I had gotten into my working file for addresses and car info, then closed it up, I remembered that in order to open it, I’d had to move all the receipts and documents that needed to be filed. In that same file. *face palm*

I'm trying hard not to give up gainful employment for Lent.

I'm also trying to figure out the weather. I can't remember. Is 40 degrees decently warm or chilly? The weather seems to have mood swings like a <redacted for sexism>.

Oh, wait, Katy Perry actually put something like that in a song, didn't she? But she's woke so she can do stuff like that.
