(CNN) — An Ohio court will decide the fate of a transgender teen who is in what the judge describes as a "gut-wrenching situation."
The 17-year-old identifies as a boy. Neither he nor his family can be named, according to court instructions. The teen's parents want court authority to stop their child from getting the treatment and therapy that was recommended by his medical team in what it characterizes as a possible life-or-death situation.

That means she is a girl.
Why can't she just wear jeans and t-shirts, short hair and no makeup, and live her live as a female human?
If the kid is 17, they have less than a year and the parents will have no say in the matter.
If this person is “really” male, wouldn’t “he” have males’ hormones naturally, without needing “therapy”?
And neither will the grandparents, but the taxpayer will pay for all of it: first her hormone treatments, then her surgery to try to appear male, then saving her from her suicide attempt(s), then treating her drug addiction.
Compassion, y’all.

You can escape your parents but the government cannot escape you.
The judge should recuse him/herself from this case.
By labeling the decision as “A gut wrenching situation”, the Judge has already shown their potential for bias based on sentiment vs the law.
Seriously, I am medically AGAINST underage people changing their bodies for gender reasons (unless born with both external genitalia of course). But in 1 year this child will be an adult. I’d not waste lawyer fees on this. Love the child, understand their pain, tell them how you feel, and support them at this point. There is no sense in fighting.

This stuff is expensive. Probably nobody anywhere in the family has insurance that covers it, which means it all falls on the taxpayer. Meanwhile, people can’t afford actual medical care, like for illness, accidents, and so on.
Imagine an advertising campaign that matched every transformer with a death from cancer, MRSA, or other disease.
This is why they want to join the military.
There was a similar story on “The Good Doctor”. The autistic doc couldn’t understand why the patient with a penis wanted to be called a girl. Eventually, he came on board with the justification that “she” would commit suicide if not allowed to be a girl.

My 17-year-old daughter’s boyfriend just said he couldn’t imagine living if she broke up with him. Does that mean she has to devote the rest of her life to keeping him alive ... or does he have some responsibility for himself?
Our family’s opinion is, “Your life, kid, do your best.”

No, I don’t think they add a prostate gland to women who are pretending to be men. However, even if they did, the women would still be women.

It is a long shot, especially in today’s political climate, but they could have the teen declared incompetent.
Then all medical decisions would have to be approved by the parents.
Some States have made it Illegal for Parents to put their “sexually confused” Children into Psychotherapy aimed at curing their obvious Mental Illness.
Mother Government knows best.
