It bears reminder the FL shooter had no prior criminal record - so no background checks would have stopped him from buying firearms.

And confiscating guns wouldn’t have prevented the Parkland massacre.

All the demands for action miss the point. What needs to be fixed isn’t access to guns but people’s values.

That’s the discussion the Left doesn’t want us to have.

Mass murder is always the reward for creating a Humanist culture. The Democrats are just angry because they wanted the government to be doing it by now.

I heard that the mental hospital patient population today is about 5% of what it was in the 1950's. So we stopped putting those people in mental hospitals to prevent from harming others and now we put them in jail AFTER they harm somebody. In this case 17 somebodies.

We need comprehensive common sense mental health reform; now. Put the potentially crazy people behind a wall to protect the population.

What is curious about this is the 39 visits by the cops to the residence. Every single one of those should have had a police report that went into the system and discussed the kid’s issues.

I would say this. In the German system where you have to pass the doctor’s review/drugs used review...he wouldn’t have gotten a license. On the 39 visits by the cops? The reports would have been noted in the license process, and he wouldn’t have gotten the German weapon license because of the threats conveyed to his mother.

The problem here is if you take mass shooters and the last 300 events....I think virtually all of them passed the background checks. So it makes wonder why even bother with the checks...they accomplish little to nothing.
