Focus on Dreamers breeds resentment from other immigrants here illegally

Dreamers have moved to the center of the debate about illegal immigration. Many say they are here illegally through no fault of their own, brought as children by their parents. Many Dreamers have gone on to college and public service, making them ideal poster children in the debate. But the focus on Dreamers has caused tension between those in the community who can qualify for DACA and those who cannot.

Alessandro Negrete, 35, was getting ready for a night out in downtown Los Angeles recently when one of his friends worried aloud about Trump taking away the protection he got from the DACA program.

Negrete, a public relations worker, was 3 months old when a smuggler carried him from Mexico into the United States. Too old now to apply to become a Dreamer, he said he cannot help but feel resentment at how much attention the plight of this one segment of the immigrant community is receiving while people like him seem to get so little.

...

Earlier this month, Hilario Yanez, a DACA recipient and immigrant rights activist, went on the TV show "Fox & Friends" and expressed his support for Trump's legislation, stating that he believed the president has shown "leadership and compassion toward" him and other Dreamers.

"Here's a guy who wants to provide a pathway to citizenship for myself and really make a difference in my life," said Yanez, a technology analyst at Accenture Technology in Houston.

...

At the same time it sparked outrage in the immigrant rights movement, with some saying that Yanez embodies the extreme stereotype of entitlement among some DACA recipients.

Sounds like the Dreamers have served their purpose for the Dems, so they’re all back in the same ‘look over your shoulder’ boat now.

OK, here’s a solution. How about all illegal aliens get deported as they should and petition the US for legal immigration status???

See....this trying to divide people into tribalism ‘every group for themselves’ will only foment hate and more distrust of everybody else. No unity whether legal or illegal

Illegals as a group- their support groups, activist leaders want amnesty for all illegals here. Of course they also want to keep chain migration so many more would be allowed to legally come here too if they got amnesty. Oh and to top it off they don’t want us to have any border security.

No matter what is proposed for any of the illegals it is never enough- they want it all on a silver platter.

I clearly remember the resentment of immigrant friends and colleagues (mostly Indians) at the time of Reagan’s amnesty. They were jumping thru hoops to remain legal and eventually earn citizenship, and along came amnesty for countless deliberate lawbreakers. Can you blame them for being angry?

It’s like America isn’t our country anymore. It belongs to “dreamers” and illegal aliens. Foreign nationals fighting over who is going to run America.

Looks like the longtime Democrat “guest voters” resent the new “guest voters” (aka DACA “kids”) being moved to the head of the amnesty line. Round them all up and send them back.

Illegals flaunt their status all over tv, the newspapers and every Mexican protest. They know full well ICE will ignore them. Ever see an ICE agent at a Mexican parade? Nope.

Makes you wonder why the Florida shooter warnings were ignored by the school, local police and federals ? If he isn't an illegal, did having a Hispanic name shield him from deeper scrutiny in the name of PC? Just like a lot of black crime is ignored as to not appear racist, with all the dreamer/illegal hype maybe the Hispanics are starting to gain using the 'cannot touch me I am special' clause of racial perpetual victimhood.
