They will gleefully sacrifice the lives of innocent children if it brings them one step closer to disarming us.

But but but if we disarm the citizens, who will protect us from a Trump dictatorship?

We might have more money to help our troubled kids if we weren’t educating half of Latin America.

Schools need to go back to healthy, productive curriculum options that develop worth and potential. The arts, vocational training, phys ed, classes that teach life skills have been omitted in search of the perfect score on a test written with an agenda of controlling the thought process.

Take a serious look at the effects of mind-altering meds. Look at other factors. Are computers causing isolation? Are there enough extra-curricular opportunities so that marginalized students can be given an opportunity to contribute? Has our violent, valueless culture destroyed any chance at a values-oriented environment in a lot of schools?

As far as this posting goes, it does seem that the NEA is whining for more of the same. More money for books and supplies? News flash....that's not the problem.

The vast majority of teachers are liberal Trump-hating democrats.

That is the opinion teachers are supposed to have. The Huff Po expect that of them. The Teacher's Union leadership expects that of them.

The Left is an anti-intellectual hive-mind. The individual is considered "smart" or "woke" and even presumably "intellectual" when they go along. That is why they go ballistic when somebody attacks the hive-thinking. But not all the bees are infected with the disease, an unknown number of teachers have anti-hive opinions, but they can sense that they will be punished if they rock the boat.

The Left makes examples of people. Like Brenden Eich at Mozzila, or more recently James Damore from Google. And of course the big one they are trying to fire for exposing their B.S. is Trump. That is why the fact that the country is actually doing well does not matter to these people. He is primarily guilty of a thought crime.

The police didn’t do a damn thing. What guarantee is there for a teacher to act????

The police, the cowards of Broward, were afraid to enter the building, they were perfectly safe hiding behind their cars.

The teachers were already in the building, and being shot at. OF COURSE they would act! duh.

A school near here didn’t get the math books they ordered because the superintendent stole the money to build his house. The state refused to prosecute him.

Wait just a minute. Obama already supplied the Dept. of Education with weapons and ammo. Remember all that buy up of ammo a few years ago? Where did all that go, huh???

Well, in Blackboard Jungle, ask Mr ‘Daddio’ if he would rather have a new eraser or a .45 under his shirt.

IF the ‘students’ would have even suspected he was carrying the whole attitude of the class would have greatly improved.

Yeah, the kids can hold up those books to deflect the bullets coming at them.
= = = = = = = = = = = = =

Did the ‘teachers’ ask for MORE and BIGGER signs, saying the signs were so small the gunman couldn’t see them and they weren’t in 112 languages so ALL could read it?

Personal involvement and self preservation. They would have a familiarty with and a personal knowledge of the students. They would not be objects. Also, they would be defending their own lives as well. Hiding behind barriers is defending your own life but not the targets. Also, teachers would be dispersed throughout the school, which makes their response time almost instantaneous compared to the 6 minutes of law enforcement. I agree that some might not respond any better than the police did, but most would due to self preservation. Their motivation would be entirely different than the police, in my honest opinion.

Well geometry textbooks do not need to be written and purchased each year. It hasn’t changed in thousands of years. Post one electronically and save the money. Most basic science and math texts could be managed thusly. Objective facts are neutral as to remain pollution free from Democrat identity politics and post modernist crap.

I thought Obama filled schools to the eyeballs with books and school supplies

Any funding got eaten up by administration at the central office level, hardly any funding go to the classroom where it was really needed.

Because nothing says dictator like a President who believes in an armed citizenry, slashes government regulations, and lets the people keep more of their own money.

Arming them with posters of the Golden Rule and the Ten Commandments in each classroom would be a great start!

And then, start classes in REAL American History & good citizenship for K-12 kids.

Maybe by the time a kid graduates FRom High School, he/she will have an understanding and appreciation for what the “essence” of being an American is!

Hogwash. The USA spends 10X more than most nations on Earth and we get some of the worst results. The Public School system, like the FBI, need to be dismantled and rebuilt as non-political, constitution supporting, entities.

When will it ever be enough money? Here in California almost every time they ask the voters for more money for school the ballot measure is approved. We put the lottery in place for the children. There is never enough money for supplies, teacher pay, facilities and facility repairs.

Public education is the biggest Ponzi scheme in the world! Am I saying quality teachers don't deserve quality pay or that children are short changed at the classroom level? HELL NO! But the reality is that just like a classic pyramid scheme it's the people at the top, the administrators, college and university presidents that rake in all the big dollars while shortchanging the lower levels. Eliminate all the county and state level bureaucracy and put all the control back at city level.

And in the case of mega metro areas like Los Angeles and San Diego break them up into smaller bites to allow for that local control.

If that is done I bet there would be a lot more funds available t the schools. I am sick to death of the demand for more more more!
