Mealy mouthed Sheriff Israel tried to dismiss the questions by saying (with no verification) that Cruz had already fled.
But one senior law enforcement source said that at the time B/SO was waiting outside, they had no idea if the shooter was still inside.
In sum...Broward needed to do their job.....but they didn’t.

So all that bluster coming from Israel was just CYA for his deputies’ cowardice. Shoulda known... whenever someone starts screaming nonsense at anyone who’ll listen, there’s something that he or she is hiding.
If Broward officers were telling the Coral Springs cops to wait, then it wasn’t cowardice, but a direct order.
Furthermore, the fact that Sheriff Israel is obfuscating to protect these deputies suggests the other cop was thrown under the bus because it could not be covered up.
They should have stepped more carefully past as slipping in the pools of urine can slow you down.

Amazing. CNN actually reported something that didn’t further their agenda, and was real news. This is tectonic.
Deputies were hires by Sheriff Israel and they no doubt mirrored his ideology. Would be surprising if the entire department didn’t mirror Israel’s liberal/Democrat/progressive ideology. Coupled with affirmative action hires you likely had an entire PC “police” department. Who would want for their lives to be dependent on the heroics of this bunch of PC cops? Liberal ideology is the first thing I think of when I see Sheriff Israel smiling and posing with Hillary Clinton.
Will never forget the conservation I had with an Orlando, Florida area Deputy right after the Travon Martin/George Zimmerman incident. He authoritatively expressed that the “unarmed teenager” was a victim of an unhinged “gun nut”. At the time my BS meter had already convinced me the “unarmed teenager” had done something to provoke Zimmerman’s reaction.
PC’ism has infected a lot of big city police departments in Florida.

Coral Springs cops obviously living by the rule, If not under direct fire get a position that gives you ‘eyes on’ the enemy however you can. The deputies are hiding behind cover outside, NOT under fire, no vis on the shooter and no immediate threat. Not a great display of courage.

Who remembers VA Tech shooting on a big university campus and cops milling about the perimeter?

Over my 40 year career, I’ve noticed invariably an incompetent manager will select candidates who are even less competent than they are. It’s a straight ego thing. That type of personality is obsessed with appearances, and loses focus of their original mission of actually accomplishing work. It becomes in-bred behavior after a while until the whole department is a mess.
